Re: Project; Divorce Therapy ( 72 SWB 4x4 )
I'd like to know as well. I'll tell you what I used... a 4x4 and a U-bolt. Needless to say, I was pretty nervous.

Re: Project; Divorce Therapy ( 72 SWB 4x4 )
I made it. It's not that hard if you can weld at all, and have access to some steel. It works really slick, it turns cab removal & install into a one man job ! It's also adjustable and should work on almost any cab !

Re: Project; Divorce Therapy ( 72 SWB 4x4 )
Well it's raining here so I told the blaster to hold off until next week, the body shop won't be ready for about a week anyway.
I've placed several orders for parts, a couple of big ones:
Here's a link to the Body Shop I'm using: http://www.colonialautobody.net/ The owner is my neighbor, he makes his money on collision repairs but takes on a few projects from time to time. He won't have his guys work on it, he will personally do my truck. I'll post pics when stuff arrives. Gary

Re: Project; Divorce Therapy ( 72 SWB 4x4 )
Stopped at the blasters today and this is what I saw !!! No unexpected surprises, a few dents, one rocker needs replacing !!!! They are not quite done yet a little more on the cab and then the doors. This is about 6 hrs so far, they use crushed glass and low pressure so nothing gets damaged ! This is one solid cab !!! What do you guys think ?

Re: Project; Divorce Therapy ( 72 SWB 4x4 )
They use crushed glass, it's very fine and the use lower air pressure so there's no damage to the sheet metal ! It takes more time & costs a bit more, but I believe it's worth it !

It was sand blasted, epoxy primed then topped with urethane.

Re: Project; Divorce Therapy ( 72 SWB 4x4 )
Pics of the doors after blasting ! Other than some extra holes for different mirrors these doors are awesome. My body guy said he will weld them up and I'd never know they were there ! The white & tiny bit of black you see is seam sealer, there is hardly even a pit from rust. You just don't find parts like this around New England !!!

Re: Project; Divorce Therapy ( 72 SWB 4x4 )
Thanks !!!
The only reason I have this nice rust free sheet metal is having freinds with connections with truckers. I buy the stuff out west and get it shipped back. Thank god I have most everything now because the guy I used the most got out of trucking !!!

OK..... Well the cab and doors are finally at the body shop !!! Woo Hooo !!!
Know I just hope this doesn't turn into Paint Prison like what has happened to so many others !!! The new bedsides and cowl hood are also at the body shop, had them shipped directly to them.

Re: Project; Divorce Therapy ( 72 SWB 4x4 )
It's in paint jail right...... "LOL". They're make progress but slowly. He is working on it in between insurance jobs. Cab, doors and the front clip are almost done being aligned, primed and block sanded. Should have some color soon.
I need to either get a bigger garage or lower the truck some. My door is only 6'6" ..... I can get a 7' in, but I think I'm going to remove the 4" lift and put in a 2" and sell the 4". Between doing both it should fit in ! Gary Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Project; Divorce Therapy ( 72 SWB 4x4 )
Green and white 2 tone. That's what it was originally. I like the orange and white just as much but the originality of the green and white won-out !
The green will be med olive metallic. Code 502 I believe.
