Re: My build thread.. 63 LS powered C10

There are several companies making motor mounts to keep the motor in the stock location. Some are adjustable so you can move it back a little. Check out the LS section here. There is a lot of info.

These headers are for 4th gen Camaro's. I was running a set again for 4th gen f-bodies but they were 1 3/4 stepped to 1 7/8. They will work on LS1/2/3/6 LQ4/9 heads. I am not sure if they would work on the LS7 heads though. I know the intake is different but not sure about the exhaust side of things.

Re: My build thread.. 63 LS powered C10

Thanks for the replies guys! Yeah, I'd definitely like to stroke a 6.2 to around 430-440 inches or however big they can safely go.
Shaun, I didn't think about looking at my 4th gen f-body. It has a set of Pacesetters on it. That will give me an idea, as far as how much room I'll have to work with. I'm not sure, either, as far as the exhaust side of these heads goes.
Thanks again guys!!

Re: My build thread.. 63 LS powered C10

No problem. I have an LS3 block out to 4.083" bore. I would not go any more than that. You can put a 4.10" crank in it, but don't plan on putting a lot of N20 through it. From what I understand, it moves the wrist pin up in the piston making it a bit weaker. For NA purpose, it works fine, and would probably be ok with a 100-150 shot, but not the 300+ hit I plan on putting on mine; reason there is 4.00" stroke in mine.

4.083 x 4.100" = 429"
4.083 x 4.000" = 418"

Re: My build thread.. 63 LS powered C10

Thanks for that insight Shaun. If this happens, then I guess I'll stay with the 4" stroke, also. I would like to be able to hit it with more than 150 or so and feel fairly confident that it will live. I wonder what the comp. height is with the 4.10" stroke. I wouldn't think it could be any worse that what I'm running right now. No calculator close to me or I'd figure it real quick.

Re: My build thread.. 63 LS powered C10

Got by Joe's last night (Had to drop something off to him). Cage is fully welded up and he is putting the 4-link in. The rear was out of square when it came in, about 3/8 each side. He double checked that by dropping points from the front of the frame on each side all the way back. He squared up the rear based on those point and will start tieing everything together this weekend.

Only got a chance to take a couple quick cell pics as my wife was waiting in the car to go to dinner.

Re: My build thread.. 63 LS powered C10

Little blury, but I got motivated on putting the motor back together last night. Just had to swap the cam, put the new heads/intake on. Rockers still need to be put down, but I am going to wait until the day it goes in and is fired.

I have been running an ASP pulley since 2002. I know there are better ones on the market now, just haven't picked one up yet.

Re: My build thread.. 63 LS powered C10

Well, headers need to go back. Both have the same problem. They hit the mid plate, which I could fix by makin a new one, but both collectors also hit the frame. Grrrrr... Oh well, what try try next. Probably just need a custom set made.

Re: My build thread.. 63 LS powered C10

I had issues with a set of fabbed covers, they hit in several places but you a mid plate they might work. Mine hit on the pass rear about 3/4 of inch would have to me moved on the firewall. and the driver side was maybe 1/4 inch . Both sides where rear contact on firewall

Frame is looking good! I was wondering what all you've done to that rear end to handle that motor and what was your previous race weight with those previous times?

Re: My build thread.. 63 LS powered C10

The rear is a truck 12 bolt. The truck came with a posi unit and it is still in it. I put a set of Motive 4.56's in it, used moser axles and c-clip eliminators. I don't know that it will last for ever, and I have a 9" that needs to be built in my garage.

The last time out the truck weighed 3,525lbs with me in it and went the times in the sig. Made 449rwhp on motor.
