Re: razorback red... buildup

closing in on the end of july and the heat is unreal. i get up at 5 in the morning just to have a couple of hours in the shop before i go to my desk job and stare at a computer all day. early in the morning is the coolest temperature of the day and thats when stuff happens around here.
recently the wheel tubs and tailgate got color, hopefully late tonight i can get the first color on the bed but we'll see what happens.

painted the white and satin black on the grill surround...

Re: razorback red... buildup

just put a different set of valve covers and air cleaner on red and thought i'd put it out to you guys that follow this build, which look do you prefer.

the stock look of the pic below?

or the light custom fins look from a few posts back?

Re: razorback red... buildup

It surprises me but I kind-of like the stock look. The red in the 327 stickers really sets off the gray.
Verry nice truck BTW

man, that's a tough choice...i don't think you can go wrong either way, but i kinda think the "stock" look fits the look of your truck better

is it red or just a reflection? hard to tell

Re: razorback red... buildup

The 327 valve covers get my vote, and I would be inclined to try and stuff the ballot box on that. That air cleaner though..... , that is absolutely delicious, I love it... I want one! Is that a stock air cleaner cleaned up, or after market?

Re: razorback red... buildup

just got out of paint... shot the bed. was 98 degrees in the booth and the paint was almost drying right out of the gun. mixed super thin with slow reducer and spent 2 hrs walking around and around that bed and slowly fogged it...
no runs and it flowed out great. a couple of tiny bugs decided to die for the cause. but looked good after cleanup.
will know more tomorrow morning.

so, thanks for the comments on the truck. i appreciate it guys.

anybody other than 56taskforce have an opinion on the motor look?
i agree with you 56 task, i like the stock look too. those are getting to be hard parts to find. a perfect set of 327 covers plus the 4 barrel big snorkle air cleaner...

but... i am a rings and caps kinda guy and fins and louvers are really my style too... so i need help deciding.

If the 327 valve covers and snorkel air cleaner end up orphaned, I would love to give them a good home!

they're scarce around here. everybody threw them away to put custom chrome ones on. sorry, these will probably end up on my truck, got some time in them but i salvage alot and will keep a lookout for you... the valve covers are reproduced i think, but probably not that air cleaner.

guess we're kinda neighbors... stop by sometime, maybe i can help you find your project.

thanks sig... but are you sure about the valve covers? (little yellow laughing guy)...

heres the red bed. got up around 5 and went out to see how well the paint flowed. not much. theres some peel. see third pic. but since this is the first color, it gets 600 wet then repaint.
that really sounds easy... can't believe how easy it was to type, cause it's going to take hours to sand.

i appreciate the compliments guys... and there's just 5 weeks till kickoff and lots to do.
