Re: 1964-1966 center a/c vent

I'm ready for a complete assembly once you have them. Are you planning to make any sort on plenum with a duct connection for the back side? I would want one as my application is custom, not using the factory AC system.

After the first wave of complete units. my intention is to replicate the ductwork behind the vent inside the dash.

Jim-
If you need an original duct to use as a pattern to make your new one, PM me.

corvettejim1968, these things are works of art. You are doing a great job and I sincerely hope you make a lot of money filling this void in the 60-66 Chevy truck market.

Re: 1964-1966 center a/c vent

i had no intention of selling the vents raw (not chromed) but if for some reason you wanted them i can sell them at $25 each. or you can wait a couple months for the chromed ones at $50 each.

some seller on ebay said he is spending $75 per vent to have them stripped and rechromed. that sounds like alot to me.

Re: 1964-1966 center a/c vent

i ordered a set of these vents this morning. when the come in i will cut out the center and add in our "correct" truck vent ball center and then cast that part and offer 2 1/2in vent balls for the sides of the dash for that custom but yet look like it came factory look. this is what im doing to my truck someday.

Just found this thread. Your work is top notch. Seems like a fair investment and the parts look good. Maybe some day I can get a complete set up from you.

Re: 1964-1966 center a/c vent

I'm sending off 4 round ball vents and one center vent to be chromed. I was told resin casted parts are harder to Chrome because of the mold release. so I had to soak them in purple power and then spray them off with carburetor cleaner. the chrome guy told me after that then I need to do a test with scotch tape to see how well it sticks. all is good on my end let's see how they turn out. unfortunately it's a five week turnaround but when I get them back I will have one complete ready to sell. after this first test I will make a whole bunch more so everybody gets one I have 11 people on my list so far let me know if you want a complete assembly and I will put you on the list.

Re: 1964-1966 center a/c vent

That smaller vent looks good.

I did a little online research on resin casting, just a question for you, what material are you using for the parts and for making the molds?

im not sure just yet but for a complete set it will be a little cheaper than buying a piece at a time. most of my cost comes from having the parts chromed and the shipping.

This is awesome! Excellent work. I just shared this link with a friend at Vintage air as this would be an amazing addition to their sure fit kits. I would love to see a complete modern AC kit with the original vent. Fantastic work stepping up & filling the void in the market. I know it will pay off for you.

That red ball looks kinda neat in the housing. Could you do them in Black to save on getting them chromed if someone whated that option?
