Re: Project 7deuce
I just reread pages 3,4,5 and see that you just clearenced the frame and u-bolts? You dont have to run a rack with the notched x member? I have read several threads on this mod but never seen one completed. I have been thinking about doing a notched x member but want to see if you can run a box or a rack. thanks for any help.

Re: Project 7deuce
Cool project! Looks like you have some serious hours tied up in it. I was curious about the cross member mod too. I have seen a lot of members installing the P/B members similar. What does this do for you? Just lower the suspension that much more? Although, I think this style looks good, I really haven't gotten on board with all the bags and lowering stuff yet. I had a 67 short step bed that always looked like there was too much gap between the tires and the fenders.(it needed to be lowered a few inches).
I didn't even know this lowering gear existed for trucks until I ran into this site a few months back.I thought that was only for the impalas and montes out in Cali....... Keep going with your project! |

Re: Project 7deuce
What's your plan for the exhaust? I see you made exhaust cut-outs in the TA xmember and flipped the TA brackets. On the Tahoe I found that the brackets need to be down (not flipped) in order to get the exhaust up/over the TA's. Otherwise you are going to have to hang it below the TA's to get further back. That's with 3" pipes; smaller might make it.

Re: Project 7deuce
Not sure when im gonna drive havein to much fun drivin the 56 now that its on the road... mIke as far as the rear crossmember I am at a standstill i am almost thinking I may just cut it all off and 4 link it as with the trailing arms I just cannot get down as low as the front. Also with the trailing arms and the b.b. and the headders im running id almost have to run the mufflers behind the rear axle and then the runs into wheres the fuel cell gonna go? Id like the bed to be finished with wood and not all hacked up looking.. Also on second thought I could just ditch the center crossmember and truck arms and link it from there? any ideas on this one mike cause im sure that as soon as the 56 is able to be out side all night im sure my 72 is going down to bare frame...

Re: Project 7deuce
love the 55-57's
On the rear susp, you will need a big notch to get the rear as low as the front regardless of what the axle hangs from. I like the truck arms with bags and blocks, but I don't want to lay frame. I recommend spending some time reading up on the various options and their pros/cons over in the suspension section. |

Got the forward tilt hood done and she works great. One person can open and close the hood with no issues....
