You guys will not believe how I got my tilt. The first one I found was from a wrecking yard. The one they sent me wasn't a tilt and was missing the shifting indicator, so I decided to send it back. Not long after that I was outside of my new body shop building when a guy who was driving by saw my '67 sitting outside when he stopped and asked me who owned it. He told me that he had a tilt for sale out of a '72 and he wanted $150.00 for it. Of course, I himed and hawed for a few seconds and said, "Well, I guess that's a fair price, I have been looking for a tilt for my truck..."

He ran back to his house and brought it up to me. It needs a little cleaning and a good goings-through, but otherwise it's in great shape. MAJOR SCORE!

Later guys, I will post some more pics once we have gotten the new body shop in order.

Rick, well, no I didn't personally have the shop built for me. A local builder (Sam Robinson) has several industrial buildings in Sutherlin and was putting up the frame for this one when we approched him with the idea of moving the body shop. He jumped on the idea and then finished the new building to our specs. He has been really awesome to work with, he will be a good landlord. My shop isn't quite "pimp-my-ride" but we are getting there!

Now I can get back to work on my stinking truck! BTW, I'm the goober in the plaid jacket helping hold the booth sides while we assembled it! The other two are my partners. Jake is on the ladder and Fred is holding the other side. I can't imagine two better guys to work with every day.

Hey Rick, hope everything is going well for you. Thanks for your support! I really wanna see your truck get finished soon! (no pressure! LOL)

The new shop looks good, especially with that 67 step side parked in there.

The effie is a '53 and belongs to one of my partners, Fred. His 20th wedding anniversary is comming up and he wants to redo it for that. He drove away in it when he got married. Kinda cool I think! Now that we are moved, we will help him bust it out in a hurry. Jake my other partner (and family member) has a '52 effie that he will start restoring soon.

Re: '67 step-side replacement rear bumper

Ok, I got back to work on my truck today. I tore the column down and started cleaning. First I took some steel wool and cleaned the rust off of the chrome handles. Then I took some WD40 and sprayed the heck out of the inside to break up the grime. (I will regrease it later) I blew out the crap and then wiped it down with lacquer thinner to get the WD40 off.

Sanded the paint down to bare metal then etched it and then painted it charcoal BC/CC. I didn't like the way the cream column looked in the cab so I changed the color. More nuteral to accent the interior and make the cream sections stand out even more. I'm not sure if I will keep the same steering wheel or if I will go with a newer one, like a Grant or something. I kinda like the look of the older wheel, goes with the truck.

Sometimes when you try to blend newer with older the newer sticks out like a sore thumb.

LMC makes a 700R4 shift indicator for my column that I think I will order. The indicator that is in it now is for a three speed. For 10 bucks it would be nice to be able to have a indicator that matches my transmission.

Once I get the column in I'll post more pics.

Later guys, D

Oh, a few of you have asked me (bugged me is more like it... ) about what kind of rims I am going with. I found them and I thought I would post a pic. It's made by Ultra and I think they would complement the truck nicely. And to boot, they are affordable.

I think Summit also sells that wheel as a Summit Brand. I have been looking at them too. Can't beat the price.

Thank you. So far it works good. In the nuteral position my legs almost touch the steering wheel (and I am not a big guy) so I can't imagine ever lowering it. There is plenty of room for it to go up though, which is why I wanted the tilt.

Wow, this is a cool build, there is a ton of information you are sharing, which is awesome. Wish I would have found this before now that I'm almost "finished".

Anyway, can you let me know how you did your door panels? I'l really like to keep the look of the panel in some sort of fabric like that, but I'm at a loss on how to do it.

The door panels were finished in tweed. It forms to the contours of the door panel nicely. Spray some contact cement on the tweed and on the door panel and press the tweed into place. Covered up my beat up panels great!

I can't say that all materials will form that easily but tweed is almost made for that kind of work.

That is a beautiful project! You're gonna finish that in a year? It'll take me 10 to get that far. Nice work-

Thanks Todd. It helps that I know how to do the stuff myself and I have been really motivated to get it finished.

Had a friend give me a power steering pump and started to install it today. It looks like I'm missing the adjusting bracket. I have to put in my power brakes next. I'll post pics tomorrow.

You have a good color sense. The gray column does really go with the tweed. I wasn't sure when you were writing about it, but in the pix, it looks great!

Thanks! The first column I did in cream but then i realized that it was too much. The new color makes the accents in the cab stand out. I can't wait to start driving this sucker!!!

Re: '67 step-side replacement rear bumper

I got the truck all color sanded and buffed today. Took it out and washed it but by the time I finished the sun was behind some clouds. So I pushed it back in and took a pic. I'm getting my transmission crossmenber on Monday and then I can get the drive shaft in. Hopefully not too much longer before I can drive it. Wait... haven't I said that before???
