That's the way it is when you have these trucks this low, and "air'd out".
The addition of the lowering blocks adds to this effect.
This is why some people move the trailing arm crossmember back 1", or add spacers to the trailing arm mounting bracket .

Steelies and hubcaps all the way!!!!! Love the other wheels too but everyone has that type of set-up. The steelies will definately turn heads.

The effect of control arms at drop. The axle moves forward as the vehicle drops. Kinda hard to explain, but it's due to the kink in the trailing arms. If they were straight the wheels would move back at drop. The kink is just a happy medium I suppose.

Here's a picture to help explain it...note the rear is forward in the C-notch...the C-notch center is approx. the center of the wheel well.

Here you can see how far forward it is....the U-bolt is hitting the notch.

It would not matter if they were straight or 'kinked'. Beyond level (either up or down), the wheelbase dimension will change as the truck arm swings throughout it's available rotational distance. This is why you should center the c-section over the axle tube w/the vehicle (frame) @ it's lowest point & why the wheels are forward of the opening C/L @ extreme drops.

Option 1) move the front mounting points up; 2) move the axle C/L back (longer arms, space the mounts, or move the c.member); or 3) move the bed forward. I like combining options 1 & 2.

We both understand the concept (it's splitting of hairs).

Different radius between the two; effectively different positions. Same result w/a different dimension. Swing a 'straight' arm around enough up or down from parallel & the wheel base will 'shrink' just like the OE 'kinked' arm does.

im starting to wonder if raising the front mounting of the truckbars will bring the wheels back a little more it should bring the angle of the bars to the way they where originally when it was at stock riding height either that or move the axle forwarth on those same bars

And thanks for the explanation guy's, I guess I never really realized the change in the rear wheel setup on a bagged vehicle because they usually run a larger dia. wheel/tire.

Otherwise I agree that Gumby looks best with something more era appropriate. IMO.
