Re: started working on the 65 suburban

Sorry if I missed it but I've been through the thread a few times and didn't see it.

which motor mounts did you go with or did you fabricate your own?

Also, to do the airbags, what all stuff did you get from PB and what did you do yourself? I'm on a VERY tight budget and while I love the PB stuff I can't afford it all. Can you tell me which parts you made yourself and which you bought? Its looking awesome and making my itch worse!

I know all about a tight budget!! The motor mounts i got from speedway motors i think they were 75 bux and then of course had to modify them!

as far as the porterbuilt stuff i bought the dropmember and the trailing arm crossmember the rest of the stuff i made like the tubular trailing arms ect i bought the c knotch when jason thorabeck (quality air ride .com) had it on sale the bags i bought off one of the forums new used air lift 2600 bags same with the valves got the bell tech drop shocks on ebay cheap so i would recomend deciding what you want at the end for your truck then make a list of things you want and start checking ebay and the forums to see what you can pick up at a less than new price hope this helps

It was my long wide bed frame i already had all the bag work and c knotches all done so it was easier to shorten the frame than redo the suburban frame

only the frt 2 cab mounts work. the ones at the "B" pillar take the small rectangular ones as like the rest of the rear ones

Re: started working on the 65 suburban

that top insulator for that "b" pillar mount that you have there in the kit is .250" thicker + .125" for the big flat washer than the orig that goes in there inc the flat steel plate which is laminated to the orig. so in total there is .375" difference
