Haha thanks Brian, I'm not scared that's for sure. Sometimes I wonder what I'm doing but I just keep at it. It's therapy and this old truck has been with me for a very long time. Thanks for the compliment

Ordered some shock mount bolts from Summit, pretty beefy studs and less than $12 each. They have a 9/16" mounting bolt so I drilled out the 1/2" holes in the lower control arms and shock re-locators.

Picture with part number for anybody that's needing to get some.



Checked the mounting position.




That factory shock mount location with the bump had to go, so I cut it out and welded a plate in place.







I welded the bracket on instead of bolting it.





I have a few of the fittings I need to start running the air lines so I bent the tube for the bag. Going with aluminum line and AN fittings, I have some bulkhead 90's in transit. Cheapest place I found online was www.anplumbing.com if anybody knows of a cheaper place feel free to let me know. Jeg's and Summit were both about 15% higher than this place.



That's all I've gotten done hopefully more in the next few days.

Worked on the driver side shock mount, cut out the factory bump and welded the Porterbuilt bracket in place.



My sway bar bushings arrived so I mounted the sway bar up and slapped the 15" rally wheels on it to move it around.



Made some temporary air lines with ball valves and rolled it out of the garage. It's a small accomplishment but it sure felt good to see it together.









Got the frame turned around and rolled back inside, time to start the rear install.

Thanks. Yeah I've gone through your build thread and really liked a lot of the things you're doing so I'm trying to do a few of them on my build. You do some nice work too.

Went to the local metal shop today and got a couple of sticks of 2x2 tubing. Fired off a couple of emails to Porterbuilt with a couple of questions and got a reply within a few minutes confirming what I was thinking. With that boost in confidence I began jigging up the frame in my garage floor. Got it all level and started framing it out to hopefully keep everything in the correct place when I cut it for the huge notch.

We've all heard of that point of no return, well I crossed it today. Measure, measure, check, grind, cut and tack. That's pretty much how my day went, there's still a ton to do but I'm up for the challenge.



Notches are tacked in and the bridge is bolted up. Put a brace under the notches to keep things in place.


Now I get to start working the frame rails in and getting the transition pieces in place and boxed in.

Half of the rear notch is tacked in place. I just didn't like the looks of how the frame rail has that factory sweep outward and the Porterbuilt 24 X 15 kit is obviously tucked in for wheel clearance. A few installs that I've seen online, just angled the transition pieces back in toward the notches. So visually you still see the slight bulge outward then tucking back in, I wanted a more natural look, like the notch was meant to be there. Not an afterthought...

So here's the misalignment before I tweaked it in.



After pie cutting the upper and lower flanges and moving the rail in.

Hey man, thought i would take a peak at your build since you have been watching my posts. That PB stuff is SEXY!!! Keep up the good work. Looks like you got all the skills & tools you need. If you change something you don't like..... change it. Got a couple questions!!
Where is Burnet, Tx ?
Have you bolted your hood back on since installing those hood hinges, if so do you like em?
Are you planning on going to the DFW swap meet next weekend?

Burnet, Tx is about an hour northwest of Austin, it's a little town with a couple of stop lights.

No I haven't bolted the hood on yet. I got hung up with front fenders on back order for so long that I just tore the whole truck apart. I'm still not sure that the hood is even straight after it was wrecked. There is some minor rust in the support channels too, so I haven't even figured that situation out yet. I may even just go with a cowl hood???

I won't make it to that one but I will be going to the one in Conroe in November. I work in Beaumont during the week so Conroe is on my way home Fridays.

On the top header of the thread there is a little thing titled "Thread Tool", clip the little arrow at the side of that. It will bring up a drop down menu and you can choose to "Subscribe to thread". You may already be subscribed to any thread you post in. If you get an email notifying you of my reply, then you're all set and will get an email each time an update is posted here.

boostedc10, I looked for those shock mount cutouts but I had already tossed them out, sorry.

Got an order of AN fittings, had a plastic organizer so I dumped them in there so hopefully I don't lose any of them. We all know they aren't cheap..



Got home Friday night and started welding the notch, my wife wanted a couple of action shots. lol



Started working in the passenger side frame rail and transition piece. You can see how the factory rail kicks out.



Pie cut on the upper and lower flange.



Pushed the rail over and put the transition piece on and clamped everything in place.





Now I have many hours of welding to do.







Working on the boxing plate on the driver side.



Still have a ton of welding but it's looking good, this Portebuilt stuff is well worth the money.

Hey when you get ready to finish your bed, take a look at my rear wheel tubs. I've been working on a new mold for some super large ChubTubz. These are designed to cover 24x15's. Let me know what you think.

Thanks and yes I definitely plan to get with you on the chub Tubz. I widened a bunch of these many years ago for fat back tires but have never widened and shortened any. I know how much time the chub Tubz will save me. Haha you'll be getting a call when I get to that point believe me.

Well the pics don't show the amount of worked that have gone into it to get to this point but I'm gonna throw them on here. Nothing but welding and grinding this weekend. All of the notch pieces are in place just have a bunch of grinding to do to smooth out every weld.
