I got tired of trying to get the bolts started in mine and went and got some studs and they worked really good.

Did you use the snap up clips or metal threaded studs? I think I kind of over did it last weekend. I just needed to walk away from it for a spell. I'll have it remedied this weekend. Hopefully have my big mess cleaned up too.

I used the metal ones and a dab of lock tite to keep them in when you take the pan loose.

It came from Mar-K. http://www.mar-k.com/Catalog/catalog.aspx . I'm always happy with their stuff. I would have liked to have a tab on both sides to either clamp up or bolt up prior to welding it.

Mar-K is a good place to deal with, they are here in the city and a board member works for them and we took a tour of their facility when we had our truck meet, cool place and they make some awesome stuff

Re: Ugly Betsy.

Well I managed to get the new pan on. The new alum pan has a thicker flange and it came with longer bolts. The one piece gasket is also thicker. I had to go out and buy some 1.25" bolts. I let her idle in the driveway for about 20 mins. No drips. I revved it and drove it. Still no leaks! As I lay on the floor inspecting the underside I glanced under the '71. There's oil under it! LOL. I got the garage spiffied up again. Later I finished intsalling the final exhaust tubes & hangers. I also rotated the clamps so they were not all pointing to the ground.

Re: Ugly Betsy.

I've been chasing electrical problems. I took a break and yanked one of the fenders and replaced a section of the inner support. It's nice not having the fender tip flopping around any longer.

Re: Ugly Betsy.

UPS came today. I received my new door handles, door seals, window channel and ext handles. I also got my new fan shroud. I have not bolted it up yet but it appears that it will be a nice fit. Put another notch on the wall.

Re: Ugly Betsy.

Some progress this morning Nonhog and I planned on a work party here. To make things better another friends showed up out of the blue. NH brought new plug wires and an extra cap for the new HEI that we put on today. The motor fired Right up and idled. The bad news was a clunk-clunk sound at low RPM. We discovered that my new water pump was crap. Glad it was not an internal problem. The *itch at the bottom of the hill put her palms up to the sky as we approached. She and her friends and family signaled for me to slow down. I'm hoping she felt like her anass when we past her doing 25mph or less! We never went over that speed approaching her either. I did push in the clutch and rev it when we past her. LOL

But it sounded like 26 or 27 mph which clearly is too darn fast.
Fun day !

Re: Ugly Betsy.

Is the hood dented in that bad or is it just the camera angle? Seems like all the roads around you are 25MPH. There is not much test driving near me. I go a half mile down the dirt road and it empties onto a 65MPH divided highway. It sucks when I am trying to work on something and I have to limp my way back home.

Wow --I enjoyed the tour around Auburn Via dash cam. The pipes and truck sound good!!
My wife attended Green River College a bunch of years ago.We still have friends in the Auburn area but have not gotten there to see them in over 10 years. They would rather come to Idaho and see us......
Keep up the progress.. it is looking good.

It's exagerated by the camera angle. It's just a slight dip in that rib. It will be easy to straighten out.

No windshield yet. Reading glasses or safety glasses whatever is handy when I go on my outlaw run

I was a little turmoiled about replacing a bed section. I made my decision backing up y driveway. I hit the corner of my metal fence. When I pulled forward I tore off the bed end. Mirrors just stepped up in priority.
