Kevin,
Are you planning on powder coating the rear bumper to match the front bumper? Or maybe in a silver color?

Your truck looks great. I really like the attention to detail you've paid to everything you've done to it.

Can you fill us in on how/what you made your powder coating oven from? If you have any detail pictures of it, that would be awesome. I recently bought a used sandblast cabinet I pln on restoring and would like to be able to powder coat small stuff, brackets, misc accessories but the limiting factor is the oven size. I can get a low dollar oven from CL but a larger one would make a big difference.

I figured I'd powdercoat the rear bumper too but I've been focusing a lot on getting ready for a big swap meet and helping Shane with his dually powdercoating and a ton of other things. Soon hopefully.

My oven is homemade out of two inch angle iron, 18 gauge sheet and rock wool insulation. It's very substantially built. After running it all day cooking parts, the temperature on the outside of the oven is room temperature.

Too funny. Did you get dressed up for that shot or do you always wear the same clothes? I could have swore I saw a pic of you with short hair? I'm I kinda like the rusted look on the bumpers. You should match the front to the rear. Just a thought.

Installing a 55-63 windshield will make a nervous wreck out of a man. I can do one like a 64 and newer with my eyes shut but these wraparounds add a whole new dimension to the job. My girlfriend helped me but it still took nearly an hour. I did it in her garage rather than my shop since it's not too involved of a job and the light is better in there.

It's in right and not cracked so I suppose it's a success.

Man that takes character. I've installed probably a dozen or so windshields in my life, and never had a problem, until I tried with my 60. I just couldn't get it done. If I got the lower gasket over the pinch weld, I couldn't get the windshield to tilt back and clear the lip of the roof. When I tried setting it flush to the perimeter, I couldn't get the seal started over the pinch weld anywhere. It took 3 guys all day to get it installed. I'd also be interested in any tips.

Aww, it's not too bad, I did it with my little girlfriend and had never done a wrap around before.

I lubed the rubber and channel very thoroughly. We set the glass into the opening and I pulled the rubber with a thin tool as she held pressure from the outside.

I pulled it out into the sun today to get a better picture. It is amazing what a fresh windshield will do for the looks of a vehicle.



If things go well at the swap meet this weekend, my next project should be a fresh panel of gauges. I have too much money tied up in the 327 to be driving it much with with the factory idiot lights, even if they do work. I will likely go with something like this. I don't care for mismatched or added under the dash gauges plus the Autometer fuel gauge is compatible with the stock fuel level sending unit so I think it will be money well spent.



Also, if the swap is good to me I'm going to get a set of new door window rubber and channels to quieten down the rattles.

I just now looked at your thread. I love this truck. I did get a little disapointed at the first post in February when you got rid of the 6 cyl...

But the 327 looks great and don't blame you. I am currently redoing mine, I am also putting in a V8 after having a 6 in it since I got it in 1986...

Where is Texas are you. I looked up the Decatur swap meet, it is only about 3 1/2 hours from me, but I already have plans for this weekend. I try to hit some each year, I enjoy going to the one in Fredericksburg since I have family down there.

Anyway, Great looking truck!
