Re: my ride

Well here is my newest addition. It's a 88 R20 454 Burb. Bought it a couple weeks back. It now has 73,000 original miles. Primary duties will be to get me to work and back ( ohhh god 44mile round trips to work and back sucks at 10mpg!) and pull a camper. The running borads are coming off this weekend and I'm shopping for wheels. Haven't really decided whereto go from there. It has to be able to cross country a camper so it limits me to what I can do suspension wise. I may actully get the rear up a couple inches go more of a pre runner style. We will be hauling bikes and junk so It may end up with a Confer style roof rack with some utility lighting. It will probably end up as a project pull truck over at www.ck5.com . 3.73 gears and the TH400 need a little overdrive so I'm going to check into a gear vendors over drive. Working on getting it on a Dyno this weekend for a base line and then going to do some exhaust and and TBI mods and see if I can improve the pulling power and bring up the MPG some. The 75 Behind it is my weekend toy. It's a 75 Jimmy I bought for $1 and it's named "Dollar". It's got Warn aloy shafts in the front with CTM racing front U-joints, 35 inch BFG's HS9500i about to get fuel injected. Stands right at 7ft tall.

One More Try
As of now, OL84 is three different shades of primer. Not lowered yet..think I am going to bag her. I want to get my rear and tranny situated before I do that. Probably sale those wheels and get some 20x10 for the rear and 18x8 for the front. Currently running 15x10 and 15/7...295/50 and 255/60. The motor is not done yet either...402 bored .30 over..internally balanced. Edlebrock Performer RPM AirGap Intake(soon to be victor jr), Exstensive headwork to the heads, 1.7 Crane Roller Rockers, 750 Edlebrock CFM carb..(will be Race Demon Soon) Custom Ground Cam 618int/598exh dur @50 268 solid lifter cam. Electic fans and water pump coming soon. Man, I have tons to do to her. Going to be fun!! Let me know what you think so far.

This 1979 truck used to be a 350 Diesel , brought new to Belgium , I think it was assembled in Canada , I'm not sure though
It has been fitted back in 1994 with a Oldsmobile engine , a 350 , which was the only engine who could be fitted on the existing tranny ( TH 350 ) |

It will remain stock , as I have no green for the moment , but I prefer them anyway like they were , so the restauration will only be a new paint job & a new front bumper.
I'm searching for an Olds 455ci engine , but they are very rare in Europe... |

I was surprised when I bought it that the cab back window & the boundary under that window were removed , allowing a passage between the cab & bed , bed being fitted with a top.
To ensure water tightness , one of the previous owner added a rubber seal between the cab & the top , as you can see on the first picture. really noisy on the highway , if you ask me... |

the left fender has to be replaced or restaured.
I went to the local GM dealer ask for $$$ for a new OEM one : 1000 US$. This is twice the price I paid for this truck ! I told the guy he could keep it , thanks , no way , a carbody specialist wouls ask less $$$ to fix it.... |

Here she is. I still can't tell where that 350 came out of, but being an old diesel, I'm leaning towards Olds.

Tanx Baron,
I had a '78 lwb back in 1990 that was a diesel conversion and had an Olds 283 in it. I remember those blue valve covers you are talking about. My current truck had a 5.7 diesel. The TH350 is original as far as I know, but maybe it has been swapped out because it had a fresh rebuild on it. (So I was told. Do fresh rebuilds leave shavings on the bottom of the pan? ) ANyways, here's a pic. This was after my engine BBQ so it may not be too clear.:p See the black ribbed valve covers? ANyone know what those came on?
