Re: 1986 GMC Sierra Classic LWB build
Yep, 2 of them.
DD 2515's. Ordering my first battery next week, and hopefully my 2nd sub amp, then in a few weeks after that my DC Power alternator. Will be turning in my PWK enclosure design request next week, it'll take about a month to get the plans from him so I should have all the materials by the time he gets them to me. Building the box out of 13 ply 3/4" birch, not sure on how I'll finish it yet. |

Re: 1986 GMC Sierra Classic LWB build
Haha most people haven't, but he's the man when it comes to enclosure designs. I figured I'd pay the $50 to take the guess work out of it and save some money in wood, this one is gonna take almost 3 sheets of wood.

Well you got me beat with the amp alone. Can't wait to see the box being built.

Haha I know, been busy.
Thanks, battery was used, paid $232 shipped for it, new they are $259+shipping IIRC. Worth every penny though, this thing is a beast. |

Re: 1986 GMC Sierra Classic LWB build
Not sure, they don't rate their deep cycles like that, but it's 75ah and a 2000amp burst draw rating. My truck (although it does have a mini starter) turns over faster now than it ever has.
edit: check 'em out, they have a battery for pretty much anything 4xspower.com Last edited by qu1cks1lver56; 08-13-2010 at 01:51 AM. |

Re: 1986 GMC Sierra Classic LWB build
Haha thanks man. I've wanted an XS Power battery for quite some time now, been wondering how I was gonna afford one (read: 2 or 3 eventually) and I stumbled on this one used, only 6 months old and I had just got paid so I snagged it up.
And yeah I wanna see how I'm gonna cut the holes too lol. Gonna go by the store and see about a big hole saw that can handle cutting metal and hopefully it wont be crazy money, I REALLY don't want to cut these holes with a jig saw or a sawzall. |

Re: 1986 GMC Sierra Classic LWB build
Yeah, still not sure what happened, so far my guess is that my hardcore voltage drop from 14.4 to 12v or less (i tried to keep a watch on it and let off as soon as it got close to 12v) caused my power hungry amps' THD to go through the roof, and end up clipping the outputs.

Re: 1986 GMC Sierra Classic LWB build
Their warranty only covers glue joints, voice coil damage is "a sign of abuse" according to them. I'll get it taken care of eventually, it sounded so good, for 2 days. College is back in session and it's eating all my time and money up right now so I don't know when I'll get it put back together.
