The bed is a different color, along with having just upper trim instead of upper and lower trim is what he's talking about. Have you checks the s.p.i.d. to see if it states 115 wheelbase? Have you checked under cab to see if it's been shortened? None of these are deal breakers for me unless it looks like a hack job.

Re: Found me a possible truck 1971 gmc swb

Why don't you offer the cougar to the lady straight across for the truck? Tell her what you believe it's worth, leave out what you paid. Personally I think the 67-68 cougars are cool as hell and I cant believe you cant find a buyer for it. Try this website, http://www.racingjunk.com/post_ad?aid=32872 you can place ads there for free without photos and it doesn't have to be a race car. tens of thousands of guys check that website daily. I placed a ski boat on there and got lots of emails and a few calls.

Re: Found me a possible truck 1971 gmc swb

Maybe the bed was painted at some point and the paint hasn't faded back out like the original (?)

Shrum, on the globe box door the wheelbase will be 115 for a short bed, 127 for a long bed.. on the Spid. (Don't post a picture of it or tell us if it is.. cause someone might try to snag it out from under you)

The Bed had a Camper top on it for most of its life so I'd assume the bed oxidized differently the rest

That was a Typo man

Re: Found me a possible truck 1971 gmc swb

Good news, a guy from SC that had offered 2,500 about a month ago ..i got back in touch with him and he asked what id take i said 2,500 he said sounds like the right price..ill call you after church, so guys it looks like i may have it sold..The only way they said they'd sell the truck is if someone came with 1,800 in hand...so Im probably going to end up with it, talked to the grandmother they put all the things in the cab or in the bed such as the drive shaft.Does anyone have the original Tire size for these trucks, I found a crap load underneath my grandmothers house

Re: Found me a possible truck 1971 gmc swb

Alright everyone I went back and looked at it, they have everything there for the transmission and stuff.Def needs cab corners and rockers..the bed is decent has a few holes..The ignition starter isn't in the truck right now..hopefully they'll find it before I buy it ...So all of the lights work one bulb will have to be replaced, Does anyone have anything GMC related that they'd just give away ?...

The glove box is gone ..I'm going to repaint the interior a lighter blue then the dark blue it is now..but i have a lot of things to worry about other then that.

its a 4 bolt V8 350, guessing Rare..it will need a new battery,spark plugs.transmission

He has the Torque converter its still good from what I saw.

The wheel well were the Battery is and battery tray is very good, which is surprising

Re: Found me a possible truck 1971 gmc swb

Working on it as best as I can..I can't wait to get it home and put some tires on it..the tires are new but the tires have holes in them, I'd like to get some rallies on them or something like that. Can someone take a photo of their Engine bay for me..I need to clarify everything is in its place.I wonder since its so dirty that a good cleaning and bathing would make it look more clean etc...I plan on pressure washing the outside and scrubbing it clean..since its so dirty, and the beds very dirty..it has holes around the wheel covers .He is going to put the Spare good tire on the tire thats tire has came off of the Rim.The lights work as in previous post..Brakes seem good.I want a heavy duty bumper so I can haul stuff with it

Re: Found me a possible truck 1971 gmc swb

I want to help as much as I can. But I cannot stress any more strongly....GET IT PAID FOR... You are thinking of things to do to a truck that isnt yours. Make it yours and then all of this matters

Re: Found me a possible truck 1971 gmc swb

He's buying it, he's waiting on a guy who does work on old cars about a Engine swap or something ...I appreciate the help everyone..means a lot ...I think today "maybe" will be the day I own a old truck and soon be as Great as all of you

Not to mention the husband of the seller told me, in his opinion its pretty much mine because of my story and his wife really wants me to have it so I can fix it up and drive by and show them.I told them it'll be in my Garage getting worked on.What is weird about this truck is there is no surface rust. It's all original Paint and some just oxidized worse then others.I meant to snap the Rockers and show how bad they were..but all around it looks like a good truck.I wish someone on here around my area would help me put the transmission into it when I get it and stuff

I have one question though, the lower trim on these trucks.Once you take it off....Guessing you can just put it back...I thought it was Glued or something
