Re: 79 GMC Sierra LWB 6.0L swap

You will only need to add 4 fuses at most, so you can just add a simple 4-gang fuse block. They are cheap and small, they only take up about 1.5" x 4" or so.

And yeah, you got a heck of a deal for $25!!

Re: 79 GMC Sierra LWB 6.0L swap

Thanks Bob.... I knew if I asked, you guys would have the answer. Not much is going on, getting the last few parts, temp sending unit for the p/s for my gaugeand few misc parts. Still not sure about the original oil pressure sending unit, was told that if you do not use it it would give a low pressure code in the ECM and shut down the engine. Do you know anything about that? Think I am going to tap the oil cooler line fitting and use that.

Re: 79 GMC Sierra LWB 6.0L swap

Hey guys I called Performance Online about my fuel tank today. I was inquiring about an intank fuel pump they said I would have to use an inline pump because the was not a sending unit/fuel pump for this tank. any suggestions on how I could use an intank or which inline to use? If you look at the first pic where the sending is it looks like a fuel line coming out of it but it's not, mine just has the red wire that hooks to the gauge. The fitting to the left is a return and the other (feed line) is below the return line at the very bottom of the tank. Thanks for your input!

Thanks Alien! I have a Holley TBI on the 305 I have in it now. It has an external inline fuel pump. I think I am going to just replace it with a high pressure inline pump for the fuel injection. I have steel lines running to the engine bay so all I need is to use FI rubber hose or steel braided to the fuel rails. Any thoughts on which inline pump to use?

Hey guys I have been looking at inline fuel pumps. What psi rating do I need? Seems like I heard that these LS motors run at 58 psi it that correct?

I used a walbro I think the model is the 394 works good,, I heard people complaint about it being noise but,,, I hooked the pump directly to the power for a little while so I could check for any possible leaks and with the truck's engine off and is not loud in my opinion

Re: 79 GMC Sierra LWB 6.0L swap

79gmc5.3 I can now give you a 1 week around 200 miles feed back on the fuel pump... not noisy at all,, I just put the "sleeve" they sell for it and that helps it from rubbing around and also quiets it down hopes this help..

Thanks, I have decided to use that pump. Got it on order. Pulled the old engine today. Here are a few pics. Will be doing a few odds and ends like installing D/S battery tray, Modifying motor support like glock and rerouting a few wires. Hopefully will be test fitting in a few days.

Re: 79 GMC Sierra LWB 6.0L swap

Congrats on the 6.0L, my progress is slow but steady, started laying out where the ECM and TAC will go. Installed the D/S battery tray. Need to modify the P/S battery tray to accept the filter box. Removed the P/S motor support to have a plate welded on to accept the motor mounts new location. Hopefully will be ready for a test fit in the few days.

Im just catching up on your thread. If you havent found a pedal yet i have one sitting in my garage from a 2003 lq4. I went with drive by cable instead.

well i kept reading and saw you picked one up already.
