Re: What do you think? c10 on 22's

This truck (in that last pic) exemplifies the fact that a couple inches off the ground with a tiny rake looks far better than laying out.

ok rookie question here.... so bear with me. "Moving the crossmember up 2 inches and forward." Can I get a little more info on that. Do you notch the frame or the member? Then what else did you do, spindles... just some more info for the rookie.
Tnx

looks to me like he just cut the crossmember out from the frame. cut 2" out the top and 1" out the front of the member and moved it there. basically a 2" Z without actually rasing the whole front frame. i just got on here to do my homework and research. ive never laid one of these trucks out but im about to start this weekend. look for it at tex mex 09 in somerville tx if u go.

Apparently the tire and wheel specs. is top secret. I know some of the street rod guys sand the sidewalls so the "competition" has to do their homework....but .....come on!!

Did you shorten the rear end on your truck? To fit that 10" wide wheel 5" back space.

If you take a pre 70 rear end you can fit a 10" wide wheel with 4.5" backspacing. I know this because this is what i have on my truck. It won't fit with a 70+ rear end. With the shorter rear end you only have 1/2"+ of clearance but it clears!!!!!! My rear tire is 275/30/20.

Re: What do you think? c10 on 22's

1low71..... did you do a disc conversion or did you change out the rearend completely? I am going to convert to 5 lug soon but Im not so sure if just to convert with drums or if i changed rearends completely I might as well get one with disc on them.

Re: What do you think? c10 on 22's

No it is a stock 12 bolt gm all I did was call Intro Wheels and they built them for me. As for the brakes I ordered a kit from speedway motors gm3 wilwood calipers, the weld on bracket, and the hat and rotor, but my truck had five bolt stuff on it to start with. Hope that helps!
