Re: 1966 "find and fix"

Been awhile since I updated: seems like all I do is mow grass every other day, we get 2-4 inches of rain a week here lately. Anyhow, I managed to finally make some noticeable progress, got the engine bay and front suspension all cleaned up and painted, also got the sway bar I picked up ready to bolt up. Pics -

Re: 1966 "find and fix"

The condition of your truck reminds me of my 64 Chevelle 4dr. Just a very clean well preserved vehicle. If it was mine I would try to keep it as original as possible.

Re: 1966 "find and fix"

Nice work! Engine does look good from my point of view. New gaskets and some paint with a turbo and you'll be all set.

Re: 1966 "find and fix"

Switched gears, working on the engine. Power washed and stripped, still cleaning nooks and crannys. Going to install all new gaskets, oil pump, fuel pump, waterpump, etc.... It was interesting, when I pulled the oil pan, no gasket, but probably a whole tube a silicone. Inside of motor looked good, not much crud and cylinder walls looked good to. Some oil running down the valves but I can live with that for now

Re: 1966 "find and fix"

More progress on engine..... oil pressure sender modified to run both warning light and gauge, drilled and tapped crank snout and modified H.M. bolt from chevy V-8 to fit. Not much but getting stuff done.

Re: 1966 "find and fix"

Finally got brakes done - new drums, shoes, wheel cyl's, SS lines, rubber lines etc...
New brake lines are a pain in the butt. Got pre-bent lines from Classic Ind. they are good quality, but only get you in the ball park. Takes some fine tuning to get them to fit good.
Also got new shocks installed
Need to install master, then will be ready to stick motor back in.

Re: 1966 "find and fix"

Master cylinder all buttoned up and lines ran. Bent up a line to run from master to rear brake line. Also bent up a new fuel line and installed, didn't turn out to bad. The fuel filter does not stick out as far as in pic, it runs over the intake.
