The Camaro is an interesting story. It belongs to an acquaintance of mine and her husband called me about 5 months ago and asked me if I knew anyone who could restore his wife's Camaro. She ordered this car new when she was 16 and has owned it ever since. It seemed like such a fun project we took it on. This has been a nut and bolt rotissorie restoration. I have the build documented on my thread on Garage Journal.

Yes I agree but unfortunately the guy who owned this suburban before me cut a small hole in the grill to mount them. The best I could do is probably find some better looking light to install there. Ideas are welcome.

IMO art is truely at its best when it looks as good from a distance as it does up close. Even more so when you get up close and see things you could not from the distance...that is good art!
I couldnt agree more. good comment.

BTW whats the code on that silver? I'm gonna two-tone mine Corvette Jet-stream blue & silver...that I haven't picked yet. I love the way that your's looks almost like pewter!
It is 2009 Mercedes Iridium Silver Metallic. I believe there is about 25% flat clear mixed in with the clear. I think anytime you throw a little satin on paint it gives it kind of an electric look. It is a great silver.

Re: Mark's 66 Burb Build

We got the red striping on Sunday. The 1/4 inch red line breaking up the silver and black looks awesome. We did try 1/16 inch around the front wheel to see how it would look and it doesnt look right. I think it turned the truck from a cool looking hotrod to something bozo the clown would drive

YOU ARE CORRECT!
I makes the wheel look kinda goofy. My bad...But the body stripe looks spot-on!
Nice job!

No man, it was a great idea and we had to try. Now if you could just figure out how to replace those front turn signals i would be happy. I think I need to find something with a clear lens so they dont stick out so much. After hemifalcon mentioned how bad they look I have an inferiority complex about them now!!

Burb is killer!

What about using street rod headlights with the turnsignal built into them?

I need to look to see what kinda shape it's in, but I think that I have a painted grill without those cool holes in it!...You would need to clean it up & paint it, but you could probably attach & hide the stock lamps behind it...kinda hidden.

Re: Mark's 66 Burb Build

Ha hahahahahah... Inferiority complex???? Pullllease...but--I will also ad that this rear letters look like those little magnetic letters that kids put on your refrigerator--(only they never came in black...hmmmm)..
You ought to see if anyone can make decals with similar script as those SS badges if you're so inclined to keep those...
But--I'll agree--that single red-stripe was a good accent to bring the interior "out"... But dammit--don't be dis'in on BOZO--us people watched him as kids--way better than the freaks on kids television nowadays.. (Unless you were scared of clowns)
All in all--it's wrapping up well--try to conceal those front signals somehow---and it'll clean up the canvas in the front... As far as ideas--see if you can't locate a clear lense light that you can place am amber bulb inside of... Might stick-out less... Just a thought--
You've done a great job!

thanks so much for the offer. I have so much time in sanding and painting the grill I have I really have to keep it. I have some other money I want to spend on the truck so I am going to try to be as resourceful as possible.

Dude I know and I have some other letters coming. We took the factory badge and cut it up but it didnt turn out right. Like you said it looks like a refrigerator magnet I was thinking the same way about a clear lens and a amber bulb. Damn, great minds think alike.

This is a great place to hang out and get good ideas. thanks dudes!!

We talked about tinting the windows to match the black but I hesitate because of the red interior. I really think it would be cool to see the red interior so I am going to leave the windows clear for now. I just ordered carpet today so once the carpet is in we can throw those seats in and make the call...................or, better yet you guys make the call.

Have you checked into the 3M Crystalline film? That would keep the interior cooler and protect it, all while allowing you to show it off.

going with black loop carpeting. I want the seats to stand out more so I thought the black would be the least offensive.

yep your right but we can always put the tinting on. For now I want to get the truck finished and then made the window decision.

Re: Mark's 66 Burb Build

We had a great car show in Sarasota today. Yesterday afternoon we got the bright idea of pulling the Malibu to the show with the suburban. It was the Burb's first outing so ended up with a punch list of things still left to do on it. It did attract alot of attention on the way to the show. Please, no wise cracks about the wagon wheels on the trailer. I guess I need some black wheels or something else so it doesn't look like I ran out of money on the trailer
