Re: What did you do to your Suburban Today?
When I installed the drop kit on my Sub it came with the longer bar. Glad I installed it.

Re: What did you do to your Suburban Today?
Finally got the steering column "guts" back together (again). Replaced the signal parts and upper bearing a second time after pinching the purple wire on first replacement and darn near burning up the 'burb. Also replaced the headlight switch (I hate that design). Pretty much the same as the '57 I restored. Spent more than an hour vacuuming. There's a lot of carpet in the 'burb compared to either of my pickups.

Remflex Header Gaskets and Extreme Bend Tow Hooks
Tired of blowing through header gaskets so decided to give these Remflex gaskets a try. Also bolted up the pair of extreme tow hooks I picked up from another board member a while ago

Re: What did you do to your Suburban Today?
It's that time of year...Saturday, I spent a couple hours and a couple gallons of gas recharging the AC. Unfortunately, I think this is may have to happen again before the year is out. It's the first time I successfully did it myself though, so that's a personal accomplishment. It was blowing 40deg this morning on the way to work.
Sunday, I got a load of sod to beautify suburban-ia. Poor kids at Home Depot couldn't believe I used the burb to haul sod. I like it because of its utility. I can use it like a truck, it is my daily driver, load the family for trip and/or put it in a car show. |

I have two 383 strokers and eventually, one will go into this '72 GMC. For now, it's sitting outside without a hood.

Re: What did you do to your Suburban Today?
Too cool! I couldn't resist. I had to look up how much that would be today. $231. A pretty good deal even if you didn't know it would last 45 plus years.

I took last week off work to remove some rocker rust and a couple other odds & ends. The angle grinder & I have seen enough of each other for a while now.

Re: What did you do to your Suburban Today?
Today I finished replacing all four leaf springs. When I originally bought the suburban it had a six inch lift. I was not happy with the way it looked or drove. Also I could not get it in the garage. I installed a two inch Easy ride leaf kit . With the two inch lift I was able to get it in the garage however as the kit was called easy ride the ride was not. So now oem style leafs are installed ride quality is 100 percent better. Plus my wife can now easily get in. When I removed the big lift kit I thought easy swap. Replace springs done. I was wrong. After lowering truck off stands I noticed both drive shafts had no splines showing on the slip yokes. Also shocks were bottomed out. So two new custom tom woods drive shafts plus four shocks and a factory steering arm,try to find a stock three bolt open knuckle steering arm not easy as most were tossed when these trucks were lifted. Back on the road very happy with the way it drives.

Re: What did you do to your Suburban Today?
A little cleaning, topped off the fluids, adjusted the fan relay, and charged the A/C with a few ounces of refrigerant. I'm ready to ride!!!

Replacing my wood floor with sheet metal
If "what I did to my Suburban" includes dropping it off with a local hot rod builder/fabricator to replace my rear wood floor. This fab work is outside of my skill/time level so was better left to expert Brent Jackson http://www.brentjacksonscustoms.com/index.html who just happens to live a few miles from my house. Old wood floor had run its course so rather than replace with wood decided to replace with 12 awg sheet metal.
