Re: 1964 gmc 1000

Great progress! Wish I was moving at your pace I think I'll pick up the speed once mine's running and parked in my garage instead of a shop 30 minutes from the house!

Your truck is really coming together nice. Love how your engine turned out looking

Going to buy a Offy 4 bbl intake, Stove Bolt exhaust headers and a heat plate from http://stoveboltengineco.com getting a carb from my old man he has a few he could part with and to go with that ill make another exhaust with a cheery bomb.

Sick of this rodsucker i mean rodchester lol it has a vacuum leak somewhere in the carb its not anywhere.

Offy Intake $235
Stove Bolt Exhaust Headers $277
Heat Plate $30
Shipping $44
Exhaust Parts/Cherry Bomb $100
Hooking Up The Heat Plate $?
Jetting The Carb $?
Linkage $?
$686 Dollars Total

Planning to be around $800 before its all done.

Question for anyone who knows.

Whats the best way to hook up the heat plate?

With the linkage should i buy the offy linkage or is there a better one to buy?

Re: 1964 gmc 1000

The gasket set I bought came with two gaskets for the exhaust manifold to intake manifold.
I used the solid gasket meant for propane. The open gasket allows air flow up and around the stock intake, The offenhauser is just a flat surface on the bottom which you will see when it all comes apart.
If you are using headers I would think a cork gasket would probably be fine as you wont have the heat involved that you have with the hot exhaust gases
I used the 7448 Holley 2 barrel on a Clifford adapter plate and modified a 1" aluminum spacer plate to raise things up for linkage clearance
I kinda made my own linkageName: IMG_3005.jpg

Re: 1964 gmc 1000

Here is after the brake change I added a 1 1/2 spacer to raise the air cleaner above the brake canister. It works like a velocity stack, I had to increase the main jets sizing after raising it up.

Re: 1964 gmc 1000

Hi Kro subscribed to your build you have amazing fab skills there I've never seen anything quite like this done to these trucks it's real cool. I have a 65 GMC 1000 LWB fleetside so this really caught my interest. You mentioned your thinking about changing you intake & exhaust, here is a link that might be of interest if you haven't seen it....Vernski
