Left them riveted on the truck and they are bolt on on the Burb.

Re: 1952 Chevy Vette Roadmaster LT1 Farm Truck Build
Ya I have hit my shins on them brackets a few times. Seems some are riveted and some are bolted. On my brackets, some of the bolts heads were on the outside of the frame and some on the inside. Looked half assed.

Re: 1952 Chevy Vette Roadmaster LT1 Farm Truck Build
Forgot to mention. I was measuring my frame up for square diagonally corner to corner and I'm a tad under 1/8" out. But if I measure diagonally from a rear corner to a rivet in the cross member mid way in the frame, I'm a good 1/2" out. I get the same distance to the rivet from the rear of the frame on both sides. The two rivets on each side are the same distance apart from each other. I also get the same distance to the rivets if measured from the front of the frame. It's got me confused.
Anybody got any idea's?

Re: 1952 Chevy Vette Roadmaster LT1 Farm Truck Build
Corner to corner with-in an 1/8 is okay, but if you are measuring 1/2 out mid-section and it is in the rear of frame it could be that one time or another to much weight over load and it bowed. It can be brought back into shape if you have a come along and a welding torch. Find the section that's bowed heat area and bring it in with come along. It would really not make a difference depending on what set up your using for rear closed drive shaft no biggy but if going with open rear end (differential) than u-joints might be a problem.

Thanks Rude. I will look into your suggestions. Maybe it will fix me right up.
Good score tonight from a good buddy. Got 3 sheets of 29" X 69" X 3/16" steel I will use to box my frame.

Was thinking about your build today FarmerSid and wonder about the rear fender support rods....don't recall 100 percent though I think they bolt to the frame. If my memory is correct, did you weld nuts in for those?

Not sure AD but I think they go to the bed side. I could be wrong but will check.
Here's the cross member in front of the frame. Just playing around before dinner.

Need a little help from you all. Could some one please post up the locations of the holes on the top of the frame that the cross sills attach too. I may have filled a few in. Bastard!

Re: 1952 Chevy Vette Roadmaster LT1 Farm Truck Build
sid, nothing like creating more work for yourself!!! I know that feeling. If no one posts up a pic, I'll try and snag a pic for you when I get out to my place of work. this diagram wouldn't help would it? I know you can't read it but if you just net search 50 chevy frame or whatever this comes up and you can see a bigger pic.

Re: 1952 Chevy Vette Roadmaster LT1 Farm Truck Build
One step ahead and two backwards eh 99! I have the parts or assembly manual on CD but the pictures shows everything blurry. Can't read the dimensions. Thanks for the picture though even though it's nothing like my stock frame. LOL! I only ask questions after hours of internetting as to not bother others with stupid questions. I may have it figured out as I didn't fill in all the holes and the sill that is ahead of the C notch is not attached to the frame. Only to the bedsides. Found that out since I posted the question.
Let me know how to get one of your T shirts up here to Canada. Would sport one no problem.

I have no idea where that yard is. Been told it's in Saskatchewan, Canada but not sure. It looks to be a cool spot.

Re: 1952 Chevy Vette Roadmaster LT1 Farm Truck Build
Thanks Blue! I appreciate it.
Worked on more smoothing the frame this afternoon after hockey. Removed the brackets that hold the leaf springs on the front and rear. Glad I did. A bit of flakey rust and frame distortion. Looks like when the brackets where riveted on at the factory the frame dented in. Don't know how else to describe it. Ended up cutting it out and welding in new. Welded in 1/2" nuts inside the frame for the rear bumper brackets and rear cross sill and 5/16" nuts for the rear fender braces. Someone mentioned that they may go to the frame. I think they are right. Big day tomorrow! Stock rear end is coming out. Made four frame support legs out of 1" square tubing that casters are bolted to that will be attached the four corners of the frame. I made them so that I can adjust them up and down to level the frame as well as move it around inside and out for blasting and such. Corvette stuff is getting close to going in! I would never have thought that it would have taken this much work on the frame. Pictures to come.......... Any other frame work that I'm missing or should consider doing before boxing things in? Cheers!

Keep the pictures coming, I've got a 1952 that has the flat out front and rear kit installed as well as a 95 camaro lt1 and t56 installed, waiting on body work for the cab but hope to have it on the road in the next 8 months. I hope.

Re: 1952 Chevy Vette Roadmaster LT1 Farm Truck Build
Since my truck didn't come with the correct rear bumper and brackets, would someone be able to post up a few pictures of them bolted to the frame?
Wanna make sure I have the right amount of captive nuts welded inside the frame rails. Thanks!

Re: 1952 Chevy Vette Roadmaster LT1 Farm Truck Build
sid, is this what you needed on the cross sills for bed on the frame? The measurements are taken from pass side, all numbers are to center, measured off back of frame.
I don't know why the second set of numbers aren't identical to the first set. I could remeasure if need. but if you subtract the difference on the first and last hole of the first "3" set of holes its 4.5" difference on the "3" set of holes toward the cab the difference is 4.357" so between the first set and second set of holes its off by .125 which is 1/8 inch which could realistically be 1/16 off per hole on each measurement. anyway, sorry for the rant. not even sure if thats what you need. let me know the middle hole on the last set is 18 1/2" I know it kind looks like a 19

Re: 1952 Chevy Vette Roadmaster LT1 Farm Truck Build
Thanks 99! Those numbers will definitely help. What year is the frame those measurements taken from?
Well..........A little update on my frame. Things don't look too good. My frame appears to be bent. I have the stock front and rear suspension out and the frame is sitting on jack stands. A bit pissed and gonna have to think about what to do.

Re: 1952 Chevy Vette Roadmaster LT1 Farm Truck Build
that was off a 51' halfton. sorry to hear about your frame. they are a bit skimpy and can easily be twisted by hand. I'm all about OG frames but its another reason why the s10 frame IMO is so versatile. Its easily twice as strong as the OG design. but I understand your doing vette suspension so its irrelevant. Just putting it out there for the s10 frame haters!!! I got a 3/4 ton frame easily accessible if you need measurements off it.
