Re: 71 C10 project "Double Tap"

I would seriously consider a driveline with a "slip yoke" on the rear driveshaft.

Re: 71 C10 project "Double Tap"

The parallel bars keep everything pretty square and the length of the bars being so long makes minimal pinion change, but it was definitely something I'm considering before it hits the road.

Re: 71 C10 project "Double Tap"

Your driveline has no "give" to it, except the carrier bearing flex.
When it cycles thru it's suspension travel, it will try to "push" when the driveline is the longest. (completely straight)

Correct. I see what you guys are saying. Hopefully I can find a good driveshaft shop in the area.

Thanks a lot. Got the driveshaft ready to send off. Then it's just a matter of collecting some more funds to get this chasis 100% complete.

Re: 71 C10 project "Double Tap"

Appreciate it guys. Small update but I got the front clip trimmed out for tire clearance and thats pretty much it. Got a lead on 70 model grill and bumper. I think I need some motivation from you guys to keep this build moving forward. Any thoughts or ideas?

Re: 71 C10 project "Double Tap"

You've got a great project going. It's nice to see you use a welder and grinder to make your own master piece. I know how many hours you've got in grinding because I did the same thing you did. Loads of metal all over the floor. Dust and more dust. In the end your going to have one baddasss ride bro. Keep up the good work. If you need drop spindles I have a extra set with rotors. ✌

Thanks man. I'm trying to knock out my side projects so I can get Double Tap on the road ASAP. I bet I've swept up enough metal dust to fill a 5 gallon bucket. I'm already running drop spindles but thanks for the offer.

Only thing I've had time to do lately is think about what parts to order next. It's a much larger list on paper, lol.

Re: 71 C10 project "Double Tap"

I know it's another update without pictures but you will be happy to hear that I've got most of my parts on order to get it running, including borla exhaust as a bonus.

So hopefully next week progress pictures will start again.

Re: 71 C10 project "Double Tap"

Figured I would blow the dust off this thread. Pictures are uploading now. I have a utility full of new parts waiting for truck to attach too. Paint will be flying this week and my goal is to have a finished rolling chasis and cab back on by the end of next week since my vacation starts in 4 days!!!

Start of the serious motor and tranny cleaning and prepping for paint.
