Re: My 1965 build thread
I don't know why I decided to do this mod cause I don't have the time to get a normal restoration done, but I think it is cool looking and it will be first attempt at customizing. I went and got this dash today and got it stripped down.

Re: My 1965 build thread
here is a "knee knocker" with that dash.
I think everything should come with a 59-60 dash. they are the coolest! |

Re: My 1965 build thread
Thanks for the pic? Do you have a pic looking down at the gauge cluster looking thru the windshield area?

Re: My 1965 build thread
Thanks Joe. It looks like a knee knocker cab has more of a dash area to work with. The 65 is about 8.5" deep. The impala speedo beazel is about 9" deep. I'm going to have to make the dash a little deeper from the windshield. That shouldn't cause any problems.

Re: My 1965 build thread
you will just see a little bit of the dash side when the doors are open.
you might be able to flow part of it on the door panel itself.. kinda like this one.... |

Re: My 1965 build thread
D/FW Texas! I'm about 3 miles from Texas Motor Speedway.
Nice Classic! I am painting one of the first ever turbo Miata's right now. Its a real early 90, and is Classic Red of course. Actually the 3rd really early (first couple hundred) Miata i have painted recently. (all Red) Looks like y'all have more than one, we have 5. (90 Crystal, 92 BnT, 93LE #737, 93LE #783, and a 95M)

Re: My 1965 build thread
I got alot done today. I took the front sheetmetal off. Finished up the door gaps. Finished blocking and primed again and sanded on the frame. I've still got alot of sanding to do to the frame.
Thanks to sdailey for his help today. I will post some pix once the site gets straightened out or you can go to my picture link in my signature.

Re: My 1965 build thread
It was a hard top and someone tried to make a convertble out of it. It's at Bob's Impalas and he said he's not saving this one. It was only 30 minutes from the house. I got lucky finding it.

Re: My 1965 build thread
Thanks Man. I love this kind of work. I wish I could get out of the collision industry and get into restorations for a living. I would love to learn how to fabricate more and be creative.

Re: My 1965 build thread
The cab has finally moved. I took the doors off and with the help of Sdailey we got it on the floor and on it's nose. I ground down my burn thru. I hope that I can mud it tommorrow.
