Re: '70 GMC SWB Money Hole
Got the TBSS headers and the AC Delco EP381 fuel pump in, but the weather isn't cooperating . I'm still waiting on my Porterbuilt pieces & the CTSV oil pan stuff. I went ahead and ordered new front & rear bumpers so I can get the gas tank in its final resting spot and modify the brackets to tuck the bumpers up tight to the body.

Re: '70 GMC SWB Money Hole
It is definitely getting to be quite a pile of parts in my den floor. My wife thinks I'm nuts. She has no idea that I've only just begun. :O

Re: '70 GMC SWB Money Hole
Ordered my stand alone engine/trans harness from PSI. I had the a/c & cruise control wiring added into the harness and added the proper programmed ecu to that too. Damn this project is getting mighty expensive. The wife would $hit if she knew how much I've spent on this ole orange turd.

Re: '70 GMC SWB Money Hole
^^^ I haven't received it, just ordered it today. I talked to Jon and they had it in stock and it would be shipped Monday. Whoop whoop. And my motor is sitting on a bare frame, so I think it'll be pretty straight forward to get the engine & trans wired up. We shall see though.

Re: '70 GMC SWB Money Hole
Not alot done today, but with the crummy weather and my wife coming home after 4 days away, I really didn't expect to get to work on it at all.... But, I got the dang CPP tubular stands moved back to the front V8 mounting position with a different set of adapter plates that put the motor right back in the same spot. The advantage is that the CPP stands, that don't clear squat!!!, are now 2 1/2" forward, while the motor is where it belongs. Now the Pacesetter TBSS headers fit like a glove (took a tiny bit of grinding on the passenger side CPP stand) without having to clearance the frame any. The headers don't hang down any lower than the K-Member and just a tiny bit lower than the frame at there lowest point. Pay no attention to the oil pan hanging WAY down, because I have the CTSV pan to go in its place .
Now, a few pics. First is the CPP 3" forward adapter plates on the right and the new 1/2" forward plates on the left (I like the new mounts much better, they use all 4 mounting holes in the LSX block and they are 1/4" thick vs. the CPP plates at 3/16"). The others are just to show the header clearance and where they fall in relation to the frame. Last edited by nlped; 05-04-2013 at 08:35 PM. |

Re: '70 GMC SWB Money Hole
Passenger side clearance... I know you can't really see anything, but I can say without issue that they fit without any issue. There's about 1/4" of clearance at the closest spot...may as well be a mile!

Re: '70 GMC SWB Money Hole
Driver's side. This side is a tiny bit closer (3/16"), but still should be fine since I'm using poly mounts. I'm really pleased about this working!

Re: '70 GMC SWB Money Hole
Thanks. I wish I had known about the extra wires needed when they put together my harness.

Re: '70 GMC SWB Money Hole
I got a few more pieces in the mail today.
I got the CPP aluminum M/C from Shawn072 that I bought on friday...Super fast shipping and great communication...BTW!!! Thanks Shawn! It'll be SOME time until I actually will use this, but I'll add it to my ever growing pile of parts for this project . I also got all of my fuel system pieces/parts lined out and the few last pieces ordered. I'm using a 1990 Jeep Wrangler 4 cyl EFI 15 gallon tank with the stock Jeep skidplate for protection, and the Jeep sending unit with an AC Delco EP381 intank pump. I want to use the stock steel lines from the LSX pull-out, just modify as needed. I just have to figure out the flex lines at the tank to frame, & frame to fuel rail hard lines. These dang AN fittings & braided lines are HIGH!!!! |
