Re: 49/54 LS driver
Looking good! Is the thermostat you are using for an older sbc? Or ls specific? I noticed that the look very similar but the cost is like x5 for an ls one.. Thanks!

Re: 49/54 LS driver
The thermostat housing is an older sbc swivel type. Bolt spacing is different, so I had to slot the holes a little.

Tlorber- is the seat question for iwanna49? You may want to check out his build thread. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=641511

Re: 49/54 LS driver
Thanks for the link. I am subscribed to his thread but I guess he has not yet mounted the seats. I saw how you had done it. I'd like to come up with a way to make the seats adjustable-even better would be to have the driver's side move independent from the passenger's side. That would allow my wife to drive it.

Re: 49/54 LS driver
Wow. Haven't updated at all in 2016. Well, I pulled the 5.3 to reseal it and decided that would be a good time to build a 6.0 instead. And while its out paint the front subframe, and fix/paint the firewall. Replacing the vintage air with a newer version. The engine build took way longer than expected and still isn't done. Machine shop woes and a broken block will slow you down. Here's a couple pics for a minute anyway.

Re: 49/54 LS driver
Josh- I'm sure your new old truck will be rolling long before mine, so drive it on down and show it off.

Re: 49/54 LS driver
Matt,
I saw that you plan on replacing the vintage air with something else. Do you know what you will use yet?

Re: 49/54 LS driver
I'm using a newer version vintage air. The one that I installed originally was canibalized from a 69 c-10. It was cable and vacuum operated and never seemed right. I don't have the funds for a fully digital setup, so I got the gen 2 with servo motors and electric slide controls.

Re: 49/54 LS driver
How did you mount the seat? Did you use adjusters If so, what adjusters did you use?
Thanks, |

Re: 49/54 LS driver
I made a frame for it to sit on. It may work the same with the factory floor frame if you include some more cross supports and center seat supports. I'm tall and the cabs on these trucks are pretty small so I didn't see any need for adjustment. It's mounted as far back as I could get it.

Re: 49/54 LS driver
What a great informative thread! Thanks Matt!
Lots of great info and ideas! What S10 driveshaft did you use? I may use a 90s Blazer diff, factory posi and disc brakes, just cuz we have one. Ford 8.8s are good too eh. Did you go with 2nd Gen Camaro / LS engine mounts? And what headers did you go with? Did anyone figure out an adjustable setup for the Durango 2nd row seat? Cheers! -Shiny
