Re: 1953 Extended Cab

Love everything about your truck especially the wheel and tire combo. This is the same diameter tire that I run on my 48 (only wider). Nice too see a 20" wheel with some decent sidewall.

Thanks
Marc

Re: 1953 Extended Cab

Could you tell me what you used for the skin on the roof? I'm considering the Sam stretch for mine and I was thinking of using the skin from the back of the cab to match the rounded edge. I would be dering the cab back panel from LMC.

Re: 1953 Extended Cab

Another question, how long did you stretch the cab? This is a great build. Thanks for sharing.

I did a stretch on a 53 and found out when finished if we would have gone only nine inches we could have used the running boards from a long bed and saved a bit of time on extending the boards, just my $.02

Re: 1953 Extended Cab

Bought a 2000 Chevy Truck for the drivetrain to use in a 31 Chevy I'm doing. Added bonus , I am using the seats in the 53.

Test fitting the rear seat. Not bad, going to modify the mounts and lower it a bit. Probably get rid of the headrests.

It fits but tight. Think I am going to ditch the center jump seat and just build a console.

The girls have claimed the truck.

Re: 1953 Extended Cab

Sweet, the truck is looking good. Do you think you added enough space for the back seat? You said that you added around 20"?

After I modify the back seat to fit like I want it, it will be similar to the room in a modern extended cab. That being said, I am spoiled by my daily driver (2013 F-150 Crew Cab) which has as much room in the back as in the front. This will work ok for me but 4 more inches would have been nice (I've heard that somewhere before).

Re: 1953 Extended Cab

Yes, ditch the head rests and that seat looks very good in there..
I like the idea of lowering the seats slightly as well.

Those seats are going to make the truck so nice to drive.

Re: 1953 Extended Cab

Starting to layout wiring for the truck. I won't actually make any connections yet. This is so I can make any needed holes, mounts, plates, etc before paint.

Are you using InfinityBox for wiring the truck?

Re: 1953 Extended Cab

Sold my regular business in February. Building cars full time now. Finishing a 72 F100 and then we're going to be hot and heavy on the Chevy. Interesting side note, I was sold the truck as it being a 53, finally looked at the trim plate and it decodes as a 52?

Re: 1953 Extended Cab

When you placed your engine harness thru the firewall were you able to get all the "plugs" into the engine compartment with out removing the connectors, like the trans plug?
What size hole did you use?
