some progress finally
Wow, its been 8 months since I worked on my project but got a chance this weekend. pulled the motor and trans out, installed a custom grind Isky cam
219/219@.050'' -.549''/.549'' -108* lobe center. the idle on this cam should sound awseome and also have some good low end power. also installed a 3000 stall convertor. when I bought this motor the miles were stated at 52 and after having it apart I can believe it now. everything looks brand new, not even any carbon on the valves. after the cam install I painted the engine with the same paint I am painting the truck with. it looks great, I hope it holds up. I read many threads were engines were painted with regular base/clear and they held up fine. heres a few pics.

Re: 1950 project
ok motor and tranny back in for good this time. here is a short clip of it running with the new cam installed, the exhaust on there is just temporary, I did not want the headers dumping onto the new paint.

the console is mocked up in cardboard, but will be made out of fiberglass.

Re: 1950 project
yes the 36 is a fun car thanks. after working at a dealership for 33 years I opened my own shop last March hoping to be able to spend more time on classic and hot rod work. so far it has been mostly repair work and a little classic and hot rod work. as my son learns the repair work I am going to focus more on the old cars. I currently have a 67 cougar a 41 chev truck and a 69 chev 1/2 ton in the shop

Re: 1950 project
thanks, for the engine mounts I used LS1 adapters to mount old style 3 bolt chevy motor mounts and then welded universal engine mounts to the frame.
now they make LS style weld in mounts so you can skip the adapter.

hey I was wondering how you converted your 9'' over to disc brakes. What exactly did you use to do it?

Re: 1950 project
I will have to look it up in my parts folder. I bought the bracket and you use Lincoln rotors with GM calipers. all parts store or wrecking yard components other than the brackets
