the engine cover are from the 6.0 Max engine. you can do a search and find them, if not I can look thru my reciepts let me know
for the upper hose I am going to use the water neck outlet from street and performance. pricey but the only one i can find. it is a 90 degree and i can point it straight up and run a short hose to the radiator my outlet on the radiator is in the center

I was actually looking at street and performance new online catalog yesterday and saw a nice 90 degrees swivel neck outlet for the lower rad hose but didn't see one for the upper hose. Do you have a picture of the one you want to use? What headers are you using?

some progress finally

Wow, its been 8 months since I worked on my project but got a chance this weekend. pulled the motor and trans out, installed a custom grind Isky cam
219/219@.050'' -.549''/.549'' -108* lobe center. the idle on this cam should sound awseome and also have some good low end power. also installed a 3000 stall convertor. when I bought this motor the miles were stated at 52 and after having it apart I can believe it now. everything looks brand new, not even any carbon on the valves. after the cam install I painted the engine with the same paint I am painting the truck with. it looks great, I hope it holds up. I read many threads were engines were painted with regular base/clear and they held up fine. heres a few pics.

Re: 1950 project

ok motor and tranny back in for good this time. here is a short clip of it running with the new cam installed, the exhaust on there is just temporary, I did not want the headers dumping onto the new paint.

the console is mocked up in cardboard, but will be made out of fiberglass.

I know.. I know but I got sidetracked on a few other projects and opened a new shop but finishing this truck is my new years resoloution. I really need to get back on it.

here are the other projects I have been working on.
I restomoded this 36 chevy sedan. all new suspension, gauges wiring and paint. it goes in for upholstery next week so it is finished.

and a 52 chevy hot rod sectioned 9 inches and chopped 3 inches on a S 10 frame on air ride the 52 was to far gone to restore.
you can see the 50 paitently waiting in the first picture

you can see the build thread here http://www.killbillet.com/showthread.php?t=25968

yes the 36 is a fun car thanks. after working at a dealership for 33 years I opened my own shop last March hoping to be able to spend more time on classic and hot rod work. so far it has been mostly repair work and a little classic and hot rod work. as my son learns the repair work I am going to focus more on the old cars. I currently have a 67 cougar a 41 chev truck and a 69 chev 1/2 ton in the shop

Re: 1950 project

thanks, for the engine mounts I used LS1 adapters to mount old style 3 bolt chevy motor mounts and then welded universal engine mounts to the frame.
now they make LS style weld in mounts so you can skip the adapter.

hey I was wondering how you converted your 9'' over to disc brakes. What exactly did you use to do it?

I will have to look it up in my parts folder. I bought the bracket and you use Lincoln rotors with GM calipers. all parts store or wrecking yard components other than the brackets
