Will be keeping track on your build...this will be my first 67-72 build. Will be nice venturing into a new world for a change.

Loving what your doing so far, and great attention to detail. Looks like it has weathered well. Keep up the great work!
Thank you,
I am very pleased with things so far, other than it always takes 3 times longer than I want.. (and then some)

That looks way cool! I look forward to following along your adventure. I don't think I have seen that particular paint scheme, with the white only in the middle.. but that is GMC for ya, always gotta be different.. Best of luck, and if there is anything I can do to help, don't hesitate to ask..

Well Everyone,
Hard to believe its been a few weeks with no progres, but that's not due to lack of motivation, more about the comets lack of time.. I really want to retire!!
Off to SEMA, but when we return, things will pick up again..

Well.. here we are, mid February already.. How did that happen? No excuses, just me letting life and work keep me from what I would rather be doing..

Did manage to hit the shop for an hour, I began prepping the passenger floor area, and made the lengthy list of what's left to get her back on the streets..

Not as bad as I had anticipated..

Re: 68 Burb - Project - GoldMember

got a bit more going last night,

Decided now was the time to fix the dash and prep the windshield channel. It turns out to be in much better condition than I thought.. I guess sitting in a barn for such a long time was not such a bad thing...

I bet from repeated bouts of condensation collecting on the inside of the windshield is what led to this.

Will finish cleaning and then tacking up the holes before I paint the top, front and underside of the dash..

Hopefully that will be the one I have to do last.. In fact, i will most likely not do any body work to speak of for the next year and just drive it.. I'm only doing the essentials at the moment. Since I won't drive it in bad weather or in winter, I'll have lots to do while she's off the road over the next year, but right now I want to get her up and running for the cycling season to haul my bike around..

It did have the third row, which I removed. I think I still have all the mounting hardware and certainly can look to see how it was bolted in. I'll grab some pictures and post them up.

I found this thread that talks about Suburban seats, and it looks just like the one I took out. Not sure if there is much else I can add, but maybe a picture or two with where the mounting holes are.. If you need that, i'd be happy to take some

Hey Rob,

Some updates coming, been a busy year for me.. Still working on trucks, just never my own..

I have cleared the shop of extra projects and have the burb on tap for some renewed interest beginning this weekend. I did drag out a few things as the clean-up was happening..

Only took a couple pics though..

Worked a bit on Saturday cleaning up wiring and air line routing, then spent a fair amount of time repairing the dash where the original owner had put a f@rd radio in.. Forgot to take pics except for this one.

Thanks,
Slow and steady.. Been traveling for work which slows things down of course..

Lots of little stuff not documented yet so I'll have a bigger update in a week or so,

I'm itching to get this back on it's feet so I can get back to work on Trippin Hazard..

Re: 68 Burb - Project - GoldMember

Been making my way through the little things, which of course is a long list, even on this non frame off redo...

Finished the rear ride height sensor install, something I kept putting off for no good reason. I also took the fresh air vents apart, replaced the foam on one of them, then cleaned and sealed everything with some satin clear. Forgot pics, will update tonight..

I also finished the repair work on the dash, it's ready for final primer,

Then I figured I would go ahead and tackle the console now while I had all the cleaning and paint supply handy. Here is what I started with.

Holy crap was it filthy! I can't say enough about the Key Parts De-greaser I purchased awhile back, that along with a green scotchbrite make fairly quick work of the mess.
I finished the night with the lid and mid section in primer.. We are having a fairly stout wind and rain storm passing over this week, and I lost power for a few minutes, took that as a sign to turn in and get some sleep..

Oh, almost forgot, I dug into my secret stash bins and pulled out some dashes.. Figured I would go ahead and put together a Tach, Vac, Speedwarning cluster with a Choke Delete!... Should look pretty nice for this old girl. That i'll do this weekend while watching the WSU Cougs play..

Thanks, it had flat black originally, but I'm leaning towards satin black at the moment.

Re: 68 Burb - Project - GoldMember

Busy weekend around the house, still clearing trees that threaten the house and shop, after we had some big winds this week, I hate to think what would happen if my luck runs short so out came the Stihl... Anyway that took most of my weekend.
I did get a few things moving forward,
My son cleaned the 700 transmission, after which I installed new seals and filter. She's now ready to mate to the engine.

Put the console in first primer, and after pondering it awhile, I think I have an idea for where to mount the eLevel controller.. (more to come on that actually using the small hole in the bottom corner..

So, I had just put down the first coat of satin black on the upper dash, when my son opened the main shop door and a huge wind gust blew crap in everywhere!.. so, some redo tonight :-(
And finally, I figured I would pull together all my dash parts and construct a dash.. here is the near final result.

I wish I had a nice original speed warning bezel with no Choke label, but oh well.. All that's left is to paint the Choke delete recessed area, drill the cable hole and install it.

Lastly, I cleaned out all the misc stuff in the Burb so I can seal the wood floor in the back, and measure out how/where I want to put the subwoofer box.

Waiting on a few small items to show up, then the engine will be ready to go in and get a driveshaft measurement.
