When I click the link it asks me to login. I am not a member. Maybe I should be.

Re: TPI Conversion Progress/Process
I have linked these like this several times and didn't have a problem. I have no idea what is going on...

Re: TPI Conversion Progress/Process
Just noticed your pictures are working now... looks really good.
What are you going to do for valve covers?

Re: TPI Conversion Progress/Process
Sunday, January 6th, 2008: "rebuilt" an '85 distributor for the motor this weekend so I can retain the current HEI hookups. Now I just need to have a connector made up to go from the 85 on the distibutor connetion to the 90-95 small connector.
What, you don't like those nasty factory paint peeling versions.. Actually I am not usre yet. "rebuilt" an '85 distributor for it this weekend

Re: TPI Conversion Progress/Process
I am planning this conversion in the coming months on my 84 K10. I was concerned about doing it only because of my motor (factory replacement, non-roller). I wasn't sure how my motor would pair up with the TPI computer as far as specs go. I checked my cam specs and they are similar to a stock TPI cam, but being non roller, I didn't know how well the truck would run. Just curious if this is something I should worry about, or if there is enough latitude in the factory proms to compensate. I could always go roller and get a nice computer friendly cam, but that's way down the line. Looks like a great swap!

Re: TPI Conversion Progress/Process
GM didn't start using roller cams until about 1987 on the F-body/Vettes. It really isn't an issue though.

Re: TPI Conversion Progress/Process
Phishfud
You have to use a non roller Knock Sensor (KS) 10456288. Roller engines tend to use a more aggressive cam lobe ramps - thus nosier. Also, if you are using a full size HEI dizzy with non roller cam a stock iron gear should work just fine. On the other hand if you are using factory steel roller cam then you'll have to switch to melonized gear 10456413 (for 0.491 diameter dizzy shaft). //RF

Re: TPI Conversion Progress/Process
I am hoping it will have some pep to it. The engine is basically stock and I only plan to add 5lbs to it, max of 7lbs.
