Re: When Free Isn't Cheap Enough...
Update: I may end up getting it this Sunday. My 4x4 guy can only do it that day and then he's off to Thailand (lucky SOB). Trying to round up a trailer now...
Yes it does. I didn't think I had a chance in He!! But I knew it wouldn't hurt to try. I don't want to get too excited until I have it. Quote:

Re: When Free Isn't Cheap Enough...
My wife wants to go but I really have to finish my BB Longhorn and it is begging for attention! Weak excuse, I know, but I took last weekend off for the Monroe swap meet and I do need to spend some time on the trucks! It sounds like you got the help you need.
Make sure you do your normal excellent job of posting pics...we love a great rescue mission!!!!!

Re: When Free Isn't Cheap Enough...
The pic of your new truck (which is totally awesome that you got it!) has confused the crap out of me. I've read over and over and even posted that 67-68 chevy fenders are the same as 67-72 GMC fenders, but in this pic of what looks to be an original truck, I clearly see what looks like a 69-72 chevy fender where the trim piece used to be... anyone care to explain?

Re: When Free Isn't Cheap Enough...
Good eye. I will guess that maybe the fender was replaced with a chev and that is why the trim is not on??

Re: When Free Isn't Cheap Enough...
You know, it's all coming together now. It's got 8 lugs so it's at least a 3/4 ton yet that fender emblem says 1500. Clearly some things have been swapped on it. They just happened to find a chevy fender in the right color.

Re: When Free Isn't Cheap Enough...
Poor truck, it looks like someone drove it down there, got it stuck, and said the hell with it. Looking forward to pics of it being hauled out of there and home to safety. Hopefully the cab has stayed sealed up ok over the years and no water has gotten in to rust the cab out. When was the last time it was tagged or inspected ?

Re: When Free Isn't Cheap Enough...
HMM I see a qjet on there. 69 is when they went to the 350 and 68 was the last year for the 327. Oil fill tube tells me 68 or earlier unless someone swapped the intake on it. Does the alternator mount to the exhaust manifold or to the holes in the head?

Re: When Free Isn't Cheap Enough...
I can only see three in the pic, but what makes me think it is, is that is has the funky big waterhose that goes from the intake to the water pump. I can't think of another engine that has that, was a 327 set up like that too??

Re: When Free Isn't Cheap Enough...
^I actually found a real nice 68 GMC for sale that had the 305 V-6 in it. It had that big hose on it along with the long oil fill tube. Also, the engine just looks "short" to me, like it's missing two cylinders
