Re: Jebb's Project 1959 GMC

They are a very cheap corvette ralley take off. They are the standard 15x8. I am not sure of the make??? I bought them out of the local auto trader at least 5 years ago. They were new in the box and came with a really cheap set of beauty rings and some plastic center caps. They are now just keeping my project in a rolling state. I think I paid $125 for the set (?).....

Hey Jebb.
I noticed that you are going for rat rod style.
Here is a couple of inspiration pics. I like the Caddy lights on this one.

Re: Jebb's Project 1959 GMC

Thanks buddy! I dig those lights too. I have never seen that done before. We are actually trying to buy a house at the moment. If we get out this apartment I can have a garage to work in and I may just give the body and paint work a go. What's the worst that could happen. If I can get her straight I will skip the flat black and just paint her.

Re: Jebb's Project 1959 GMC

No real news yet, gonna tear the rearend out soon. Had her out on the street to move some things around last weekend. I took a few pictures just because, it does have a pretty good stance. It was nice to get a good look at it from more than 2 feet away.

Re: Jebb's Project 1959 GMC

BIG SCORE ON EBAY TODAY!!!

I also have located a fleet option gauge cluster for her! I guess I am keeping this cab after all. Those things are not easy to find!!! I just lucked into it, was sought out by a guy who had it and didn't need it. Freshly restored and all! I love meeting people who want to help you just because they are into the same things you are!

Thanks for stopping in, your truck is breathtaking to say the least! I actually have the picture I posted on here a while back as my wall paper on my home computer.

I have lots of questions about your truck and would love to see any pictures you are willing to share, all that you have if you want.

What motor are you running in that truck? I have been troubled with this decision. I have an era correct 283 fresh rebuilt and ready to run that would bolt right in. I do want my truck to be true to the GMC roots though so I am also consittering a Pontiac mill. I would build it as I am obviously not going for the bone stocker thing but I still want to be true to it's heratige. What are your thoughts?

Re: Jebb's Project 1959 GMC

I dropped the tailgate off at the Media Blaster's today. I won't get a chance to pick it up until Friday. Hopefully there will be something left when I pick it up.

I also got the gauge cluster in, it is really nicley detailed! I took it apart to inspect it and it looks like they stripped and repainted the inside as well.

After all this takes place, I have a deal struck to get the cab out for body and paint work. The money owed on my 78 has now turned into a legal battle. Can't trust anyone anymore....

Re: Jebb's Project 1959 GMC

Hey Jebb,

Post some picture of the gauge cluster. Are you still going to use the duelly for a parts truck? Tha really sucks about the problems your having with the sell of your 78, I hope it all works out for you.

Re: Jebb's Project 1959 GMC

Here you go buddy "needle in a haystack" so to speak,

As far as the Duelly goes, I am only taking the hood, seat, drivers door and every last piece of rare GMC chrome trim.

My project keeps changing direction..... I can't make up my mind on anything. It looks like we are going straight to paint now so those wheels are going to get powder coated black.

The deal with my 78 just blows my mind, I have done 3 car deals with this guy in the past. My whole family has known him for like 15 years? I didn't even try to sell it, he came over and offered to buy it???? Why, he appartenty couldn't afford it? He even offered me $1K more than I agreed to sell it to him for because he has made me deals in the past. He isn't even answering my calls anymore and he has had the truck for 3 months.... I won't go into all the details but a good friend of mine from way back actually went to law school and has taken the stress over for me. It's a real shame it had to go that way.

Re: Jebb's Project 1959 GMC

It's an original Fleet Option cluster, they are not reproduced. This one has been restored. A guy on a GMC forum actually offered it to me when he saw I was working on a Fleet Option truck. He bought it just because the price was right and it was obscure. He was super cool to hook me up, he sold it to me for what he paid just to see it go back in an original Fleet Option truck!
