Re: 52 Project
I got the door hinges rebuilt this weekend...actually I started last weekend. The worst part was getting the old ones apart. It only cost me a burn on the arm and a wacked thumb. Here are a few shots I took while I was doing them. Enjoy!!!

Re: 52 Project
The Camaro is next. Once I get the floors in the truck my dad is going to start the body work on it. Then I get to get some stuff done on the Camaro...yaaaahooooooo. Maybe one day I will get it going and we can meet and then it would be next to your truck .

Re: 52 Project
Outstanding. It's good to see local folks into keeping old steel on the streets. At you current pace, you'll have yours beating the streets of League City before I make it back to finish mine!!!
I'll be back at the end of next month and will pull mine out and tow it to a local storage room. The wife decided that it was time to get into a new house so, I have to get it moved for her while I'm back (or risk her doing it for me!!!). Wish I had time to buzz over and lend a hand while I'm back but, I promised to take the crew on a vacation on my leave this time. If I don't do it, you'll see my face on the news one evening: "Last night, a man was pummeled by his enraged family, screams were heard throughout the neighborhood...). Keep up the great work. Maybe we'll run across one another one day. Take care, Jon

Re: 52 Project
Hey Jon long time. When you coming home? You have been over there a long time. I don't know about beating this thing before you cause we seem to be taking a long time...lol. Hopefully later this summer we can make some big progress.

Re: 52 Project
Coming back the 24th of next month. It'll be a busy two weeks with getting the panel truck where it can be towed to a storage room, packing truck parts/garage stuff and out of that, a week and a half will be down in Mexico. June 7 will be one year. We hope to set the platform in the Gulf of Thialand by Feb of next year so, still a ways to go.
Shoot, you're making great progress. At the time I was building on mine, I really wanted to go with the exact firewall and floorpan that you have put in...for obvious reasons...it looks damn good. Money was tight so, I saved on the money and started sealing all of the holes in my firewall. Once I start again, the moneys is now not as tight so, I still may go back and cut out both and redo. If I don't, it'll probably always bug me. Hang in there, your doing great! Later, Jon

Re: 52 Project
Yeah I am finally getting the floor welded in. I got the inner kick panels in last weekend and got the main floor in. Also I started on the panels that connect the floor to the firewall but I didn't get any pic of that yet. Here are a few pics that I took today.

Re: 52 Project
Looking good. What are your plans with the interior? More specifically the insulation. I don't want to hear any outside noise if possible. Just curious.

Re: 52 Project
I finally got the floor completely welded in this past weekend. I still have some clean up work to do and a little finish welding but here are a few pictures for now. Soon I am going to take the cab off and get the motor placed in the right position...hopefully in the next week or so...lol.

Re: 52 Project
I got tired just watching you do all that work !!!!!!
I guess I am up for some hours of trial and fix it right this time!! What did you use to cut the rear at the seat location (the long cut) is it butted or overlapped?

Re: 52 Project
Solid, I used a cuttoff wheel mounted on a 4" grinder. It went really fast and left a nice finish. I just marked a line and followed it the best I could then cleaned it up with a little air angle grinder. The floor kit came with a tube that mounts under the old and new floors to add support and to weld the floors to. The tube is about 1 1/2 x 3 and comes in 2 pieces with a center connector that you plug weld once you have set the length. The *****in kit that we got was really nice and came with all the pieces you see here. It did take a little time to fit everything the way I wanted it but it came out really nice. If you have anymore questions let me know.

Re: 52 Project
I bought a *****en kit from a guy that he had sitting around and was onto another project, but I don't know if I have all of the parts to it. The 1 1/2 tube that you mention I think I am missing! Does this piece go from door to door under the seat?
I do have some short pieces that are for the cab mounts, is it that size tubing?

Re: 52 Project
Solid, Here is a couple of pictures of the tube welded into the original floor. I couldn't find any of it out of the truck. Also you should have 2 angle brackets that should be painted red on the frame side that you weld to the cab and to the frame to support the cab while you remove the original floor and rewelding the new floor. Those are the brackets you can see from the last 2 shots. Let me know if you need anything else.

Re: 52 Project
Thanks Tex, maybe someday we can get together with these trucks.
Solid, The toeboards are part of the floor kit. There are 12 pcs in the floor kit and 2 support brackets. The inner cowl panels we got from Brothers, but I don't know if you were asking about them. I have different names for parts sometimes...lol. Bernie |

Re: 52 Project
Thanks Bernie, I looked at all of the pieces that I have and they are all there!!! The two angle pieces that you talked about are they different shapes, one is 90* and the other is about 60* is that correct?

Re: 52 Project
You are correct. You will see once you start how they go. Also look at this site, he does a great job of explaining how to do this install. I actually ordered this from him so that I could have it in the shop while I was doing the install.
