Roland..Thanks for the kind words, and ys I got the old pump, but just went to my local flaps and picked up a new one for the 89 burb, and yes it is a reverse rotation, the smooth pulley on the WP was a dead give away

Byrd - Way back on posting 59 (Oct 16th) 3rd picture shows what appears to be new E-brake cables. Are they new and if so from where?

The wheel question has me wondering also. They are going to look great.

sorry I missed you question. Yes they are new and they are stainless from Inlinetube.com

I will have to have some of the pieces remade to custom lengths as my tranny and new style x-member is causing me some headaches. I think I will need a longer from cable and a longer tensioner and a shorter intermediate cable to make it work.

Finally a little progress. I got some 88-95 shorty ceramic coated headers from Skip white on Ebay. They fit good and look great, however I did have to trim the DS frame rail about 1/4" for about 2" on the top rail. The factory already had a little section trimmed out and I just extended it a little and looks like it has always been there.
I got the last of the serpentine kit finished up and the belt installed, ready to go!!
I still have to see what it is going to take to finish up the exhaust, parking brake cables, driveshaft and that will complete the drivetrain and the chassis, except for a few little details. Hopefully I can get it really close and ready for the body work by first week or two in January.
I will update the pics showing the headers tomorrow I didn't have my camera with me at the shop today.

The DS header looks like I will not be able to keep the exhaust inside the frame rail so I will most likely go under the tranny and to the outside of the frame to the back of the wheel and dump there some way, not sure which way yet

I think the pics make it look a little tighter than is it really is. There is about 1/2" gap between the headers and the frame rail.

Lookin' good Randy!. What's that bolt in the DS header?. Are the spark plugs easy to get to?

The headers are for a fuel injected 88-95 truck and that is the O2 sensor blocked off.
The third and fourth plug back on both sides would be the worst of it and they don't look too tough, I just couldn't beat the price and they are the style are that I wanted

It looks like you are doing a great job on Frank's truck--great story, too.
But........you really need to think about changing your tow vehicle

A little progress to report. I have got a veteran bodyman who is one of my closest childhood friends older brother, and he has agreed to help me out with Frank. We started on the cab and have made some good progress. The first spot was the firewall on the DS as it had been beaten up pretty good by what looked to be a flat tire in times gone by, while he worked it over with a hammer and dolly for several hours the pinched welds on the seam between the floor and the firewall started breaking apart and we had to drill some holes to spot weld it back together.The cab support rail(?) also need some attention as the spot welds in it near where the floor and firewall meet and alos at the top where it attaches to the firewall near where the steering column will be. We still need to shrink the metal around where the wiring harness comes out of the firewall, but will do all the shrinking at the same time. We have dollied out all the dents we can get to and he has worked the PS cab corner straight (what a job that was!!)and we found a few pin holes in it that we welded up last night. While he worked on the cab corner I started shaving the firewall, I got the heater box shave and the clutch rod hole shaved, still have to do the gas filler, blower motor, and a few small holes in the firewall that I won't be using. I'm going to shave as much as I can off the firewall, including the tach wiring hole, the taillight harness hole, and all the little rubber retainer holes that were used to hole the firewall padding in place. I may even shae the sppedo cable hole if I can come up wioth a good way to route it and keep it inside the cab until it has to go down to the tranny.I have a old high school buddy that is going to let me use his stud welder and slide hammer to pull a few dents out that we can't get from inside. I will get started on that this weekend if I have the time. Now for a few pics

A little progress to report I got the cab sandblasted this week, and it came out looking VERY good. All four supports are perfect as well as the cab corners(a couple of very small pinholes did show up), floors, roof and firewall Tonight we roughed the metal up a little and a good wipe down with pre clean and got the cab in primer so we can touch it and work on it, also so it won't surface rust in this lovely warm/cold(same day ) Kentucky weather.The inner rockers are going to need a piece cut out and welded in, and a small repair in both foot wells, maybe a very small piece of floor on the near the kicks on both sides, and of course outer rockers Will start on those repairs and alittle filler work this coming week and hope to keeps things moving along. Here are a few b-4 and after pics of teh cab blasted and primered.

Well I finally got back to the truck after nearly a month of bitter cold weather. We started the night off with getting the inner rockers cut out on both sides and started to get the footwells shaped up. I had to cut a lttle from the floor on PS above the front support, (which looks great on the inside BTW ) Rick got part of the DS inner rocker shaped up and into place. We couldn't just use the inner rocker patch as the floors were pitted really bad just outside of the inner rocker patch panel. So we had to use the rear floor patch, and the front floor patch. We just cut away most of the rear patch and the side of the floor patch off to give us the piece we needed.Hopefully we will have the pieces patched back in and get the doors mounted up so we can mock up the outer rockers by the end of next week.I also got the rest of the PS firewall shaved and welded up ready to work on shaping the firewall where the fan motor was to make the firewall match on both sides. It shouldn't be too bad as I have a piece of firewall I cut out of a junk cab to help in making the piece. Should make it a lot easier since it will be nearly the shape from the begining and also has the correct lip on it to make it look like it was suppossed to be there.

Howdy Byrd... I've got a 69 CST that is just about ready to be pulled apart. But before I start I'm doing a skills check... I think I ready but would like to get some insight into the actual separation of the three main body sections. Looks straight forward... sorta, I've seen shots where a cherry picker is used to remove the cab and bed... the work on the front clip seems fairly clear.

So I guess question is.... what can ya tell me...? Any secrets....? I seen most of your build photos (which are pretty awesome).

Thanks for the words of encouragement guys!!! This part is moving kinda slow with the cold weather. Hopefully this upcoming week we will be able to make some big progress. The goal is to have the floors spots patched, inner rockers screwed in place and get the doors on and lined up to start mocking up the outers rockers and getting all the gaps right before we weld everything up.
It is soooo nice to have a guy like Rick helping me, I doubt I would have been able to afford to build this truck without him. Rick has been restoring old Camaro's and Chevelle's for over 15 years, and has a 72 short fleet of his own as well as restored a few trucks for customers in the past. I took auto body in high school(15 years ago) and have a little knowledge that I retained, more than I thought once I got into this truck with him, but still very limited

I think you are doing a great job, I wish I had that much room to take my truck apart, how much money have you put into your truck? My wife gets pissed everytime that I buy something new for my C-10, but she can't stop me.

Thank you, my mom and step-dad have been kind enough to let me restore it in their shop 30x60 and is only about 2.5 miles from my house. Before I started this build we bought my wife a new car,and the deal was I got to spend what she spent on her car to build my truck,she has gotten both of the last two new or newer cars we have bought and I get them handed down so I figure it was my turn too
