Hey thanks a lot 72BlckButy . This is my third 67-72 model truck that I've had it it is the best to build so far. My plans are to give it a old/new school twist. I want to put on the upper and lower molding with a two toned paint job to really make it stand out. If money and the Lord allow me to it should be in the paint shop sometime next month.

Thanks for all the kind words!! I got the interior "mostly" done. I still need to get the vents and the AC hooked up, then I will install the glove box. I got the door panels in and I must say they look good thanks to the tip I got from Don (Richard8971). I also got the hood on and actually been driving it around... finally. Great steet manors and plenty of get up and go which is what I wanted. I still need to figure out something with the tailpipes, but once that is done I'll start on the bed floor and what seems like a million little things I still need to do, like adjust the headlights...

Hi Everyone!

Thanks for all the kind words!

Just an update, I haven't spent much time lately working on it since it's road worthy, but I had the day off and decided to finish up the AC system. I installed the condenser, chrome compressor hoses and charged it up. All I can say is Vintage Air is the way to go on these trucks. Plenty of air movement and it’s freezing cold. I pieced mine together because I got a deal on the evap, but recommend to anyone to just get the kit. It’s all the little stuff that is pain to find.

I also have some pics of the back half of my exhaust. I bought the magnaflow kit for our trucks, but didn’t like the way the rear pipes were, they hung too low and I wasn’t exactly a fan on how they exited the rear, but it might be because I have a stepside. I included a photo, but it wasn’t all the way installed, just for reference. Anyway, I dropped the truck off at Midas by my work to see what they could do from the mufflers back. I will tell you, I couldn’t be happier with how they did it and can't believe that they didn't do the kit this way to begin with as it's much better install. It’s not stainless, but it looks great, totally tucked up and they got around the super-track bar and rear tank with no issues. That was part of the problem with the Magna kit as the exhaust on the passenger side didn’t fit with the non stock stuff.

Anyway, here’s the photos. Just need find some chrome tips I like, then on to the bed floor!

Man, I need to come down and take a ride!! I can't believe how fast you got to this point, it was nice when I dropped the rear off, but was in primer and you were going to do some motor work? I'll bet it hauls @$$! Man, wanna finish my 2WD Blazer??!! J/K BTW I met with my surgeon, dound out I have a boken vertebra (2 places) as well as a spial impingement (30%) pushed in, I wonder if that's why I was so unwilling and unable to deal with the pain on toomanytoyz' build?!?! I about fell over when he said "ya it's broken in two places and you could reach to tie your shoes and be paralyzed!! June 10 I go under the knife, so if I get down your way before, I'd really like to take a ride, and drooooool on that sweet thing!!

How easy was it to put that seat in, as far as holes lining up etc?

Mike, just let me know when you come down, I'd be happy to take you for a spin! I'm planning on taking it down to "run what you brung" here a couple of weeks just see what it does but want to get the bed and tailgate on to add some weight to the rear as right now it's worthless under 40 or so.

The seats were fairly easy but you do need to drill new holes and reinforce under the cab for saftey reasons, but it required very little fabrication.

I'm not sure I'm happy with the far left piece that I got with my "kit" from Mar-K. I'm fabin up my fuel filler and I don't know about using this piece.

What do you think?

I also bought the magnaflow kit and thought the same thing about the tail pipes . How well does the new A/C work ?

I would send them that picture and ask for another piece that matches the other wood. Don't put it in.

Great looking truck! If mine turns out half this nice I'll be happy. You don't by chance have a sound clip of the exhaust do you? Those are the same mufflers I have for mine and I'm hoping I'll be really happy with them.

Now drive it up north, I want a ride in it too!

We sent some information directly to this customer and we are sending him a replacement board. However, here is some helpful information for other customers who might be thinking of ordering pine wood for their beds:

Due to the characteristics of pine, which is classified as a soft wood, the stain soaks into the areas between the grain but not the grain itself. Since the wide boards are by necessity cut from the center of the tree the rings tend to be larger and more prominent on the wide boards making it more likely that it will not take the stain as well.

We will be posting this additional information on our website and making our salespeople aware so we can better inform our customers. It is our recommendation that pine should either be painted (as was the original wood beds) or finished with clear coat, rather than stained. And, for show quality beds we recommend using oak as the grain is tighter and more uniform.

Wow, these guys are good! Not only are they sending a replacment board with no questions asked, they found my build thread where I was seeking opinions on the one I got! They are regular detectives!

Anyway, this is very cool of them and I have already got my tracking number for the replacement board. What a class operation!
