This has nothing to do with you not being able to carry your end of the trans! It has everything to do with that silver band on that finger!

Re: Porterbuilt 69
I could only be so lucky.... I've had an order with CC # supplied with another vender for over 4 months and still no suspension. It's sad I could build something myself if I had the time but I never thought I'd have trouble spending the money. I need a rear set-up that goes in as quick and smooth as the DM did in the front so I will continue to wait. Did just get my new frame in for the racebike and a few extra parts should be at the dealer next week so spending should slow down on it soon. Of course I do need to spend some at performance machine getting new brakes for my knucklehead and that will hurt some. Always something....

Re: Porterbuilt 69
Well... since it felt so good yesterday I had to get some more today! It's been so long that I almost had forgotten how much fun this stuff can be!
I cleaned up a couple hours early and busted out the driver's side fender. I shaved the marker light and went ahead and stripped the exterior.... mocked it up and stared at it for a while! I also had to unbolt the rear wheels and set it down on the drums so the rake wasn't so bad. Still not close to ride height in the rear... but will have to do for now!

Re: Porterbuilt 69
So Nate when is this rear suspension going to be available. I am sure their are alot of us waiting to order? So what morot are you going with a 5.3 or 6.0L and what HP are you thinking it will put out after the two hair driers are fired up?
Nice job on the marker removal. It takes me way to long to do a seamless job like that but it is getting faster by the day. Kevin LFD Inc. |

Re: Porterbuilt 69
I made the marker fillers by taking a sheet of 18ga. that was roughly 12"x12" and rolled it on my english wheel until the contour matched the fender as close as I could get it (didn't take too long, the radius is subtle). I then cut out the filler piece (just big enough to remove the stamped marker recess hole), laid it on the fender over the marker light recess; traced my filler piece, cut-out the marked hole and marker recess, then made sure it all fit tight, fired up the TIG welder and stitched it in, allowing it to cool and using the hammer and dolly to keep it straight. Then I stripped the whole fender with a 36 grit DA, 60 grit DA, and finally an 80 grit DA.

It's a 5.7 out of a 02 SS Camaro. Came with headers, ported heads, under-drive pulleys, SPEC racing clutch, and who knows what internals... looked like the guy spent a bunch of money and then wrecked his car with all that extra power? I will be trying to keep it at around 600 hp. It will be capable of much more, but I would have to upgrade everything to be able to use that kind of power.

Re: Porterbuilt 69
600hp that sound a little conservative with twin turbos.

Re: Porterbuilt 69
Very conservative... with the proper tuning and internal upgrades it could make over 1000hp. I just don't want to spend the extra coin and or brake stuff!!! 600hp is plenty for me!

Re: Porterbuilt 69
The image makes the center look like it has a sheen to it or maybe a brushed finish...at least that's what I thought. Actually, the center is a rough cast looking piece... pretty darn cool.

Looks great! - any luck on the swaybar?
I am getting closer on mine. Ran fuel lines today. Curious if you have any close up on the motor mounts? |
