Well he slept for another hour this morning so I had a chance to clean things up and get ready for next weekend, CUT TIME! I moved things around in the shop so it is front and center for slicing and fitting of all the new body parts! See you all next weekend

Things are starting to happen and will be going even faster in the next month or so. I an getting it ready to head off to the media blasters by removing all rusted metal that will be replaced with new. This way we only pay to get blasted what is going to stay for the long hall. I am also test fitting the new panels so once it comes back it will fly together Here are a few pics from the last few days. I hope to have it all blown apart by Sunday after noon so it can hit the blasters in the next two weeks.

I'm amazed by your talent.
IMO, it takes some keen 'vision' to see how things 'should' come together when doing one-off stuff (should & do are two very different results). You seem to have the touch needed to make things right.

Thanks but it all comes down to not being afraid to try somthing new. And alot of practice Well the floors were not as bad as most I have worked on but still need the usual work. The rocker box's are in real good shape and I cut the floor open bigger than I had to just so the blaster can get in their real good and then seal it all up with epoxy sealer. The kicks and A post bottoms are gone as are the inner and outer rockers but that is about it for rust problems. I figure about a day per side and it will be better (sealed on both sides!) then new. So you're using SWB bedsides cut down? I see that you trimmed the front- does the rear end up having to be sectioned, or do they line up? I always assumed the Blazer and short fleet bedsides were different dimensions behind the wheel arch.
Edit- nevermind- just went and measured. Beauty of having one of each! This is good to know- funny how your eye will play tricks on you...

Check this out, yesterday the owner of this build called up ECE and ordered the floor patches for front and back, side to side as well as the two A pillar bottoms. Guess what was waiting for me today when I got home! Now that is fast service

Getting more done today on the Trazer. Started off by grinding down the rear cab belt line weld and the pop rivit holes inside the cab. Then I focused on the A pillar section's. I could have just welded it up like most people do but I feel it is a good idea to add a bit of reinforcement to the posts. I do this in two ways, first I cut the opst open on the inside of the jamb stagering the out side cut. Then I cut out a patch from the doner cab so when it is welded up the cut seam is not all in the same plane ( one straite line) but off set to three different areas. Also I like to add a section plate to the inside of the post adding more strength to the post. I cut this section out of the same doner post that I got the outer plate from. I drilled 10 holes in it so I could plug weld it to the inside post but not untill I cleanned everything real well and sprayed it all down with Eastwoods Rust Encapsulator. I also coated everyting after the inner plate was welded up. Here are some pics of the passenger side and I am headed back out to finish the drivers side now that I had lunch

A bit more progress for the day
I started things off by checking the fit of a very rare blazer option, the bolt in low hump floor Then I welded up all the holes in the new dash that were caused when it was removed from the doner vehical. I figured it would be alot easier to do all this now before it gets installed. Then I started fitting the floors, kick panels, A post bottoms and outer rockers. Everything is trimmed and cut awaiting blasting then it will just pop it self all back in Kevin LFD Inc. |

First big mile stone was hit today! Just got back from droping it off at American Strippers to get blasted and sealed then back here to get finished up. Seams like latly their has not been much progress but infact their was alot of prep for blasting and fitting all the new parts that needed to be done at some point. I also had the mad in brown drop off a box of Lizard Skin sound/heat proofing that will get sprayed on the inside of the cab and doors once it comes back. I also have all new hardware for bolting things up. This is going to be one slick ride when it is done. It has me inspired again for my 2wd Blazer so once this one is out I will be starting on mine, I was getting pricing today for metal stock for my new frame jig table. I also have 9 sheets of notes for mods as well as several body and chassie renditions It will be slick.
