Re: project (sweet pea)
Did you just cut the piece of metal and put it over the passenger side firewall to shave it then grind it down and put body filler on it? And what gauge steel did you use in the gutters to get the bends?

Re: project (sweet pea)
i just made templates of the holes i wanted to shave out of cardboard...then traced those out to my metal( i believe that the guage is 18-20) its was pretty stout...and thicker than the actual firewall....As far as the wire channel...i made it in several pieces bending it over my knee to get the correct shape...it was also from the same metal...18-20....
Update.....well got most of all the driver side floor finished....just some finished welding and grinding to do ...And on the the passenger side....Also been tinkering with all the engine parts....cleaning and painting everything......and installed the dist and a Pete Jackson gear drive.........Hope to have all the engine parts and accessories on by the end of the week....Anyway here is a few pics......Tony |

Re: project (sweet pea)
Well i got everything done late last night on the engine...with the exception of ,new plug wires, a return line for the power steering and manifolds...and i also scored a FREE bench seat. i was going to run my (99 monte carlo) buckets .but with the soon arrival of my first child...i figured a bench was in order...I will be having it recovered in Black leather ......Anyways its off to get the cab DONE...i seem to get side tracked on my LIST and not having that cab crossed of is really getting to me.....[ATTACH]

Re: project (sweet pea)
Thanks Geoff and The paint is coming i promise....PM me your cell # and i will get ya a sneak peak..........lol............
And Rick..YES its only a matter of time....before i take the air cleaner and valve covers off....i like chrome dont get me wrong...but i also like to drive my truck...and last time. it seemed like i spent alot of time cleaning chrome and polishing and making shure everything looked as good as it could....i think if i just paint everything...it will be a lot easier to maintain....and keep looking good in the long run....its kinda sad though...when i started this i bought everything, pulley system, intake and most of the bolt on things in CHROME...lol..most i didnt use and other s i just sanded and BC/CC...oh well..... Re: project (sweet pea)
Thanks for posting the pics... I thought it was my phone that was screwing up. I don't use it for messaging so I wasn't sure if it was something on my end.
I can't wait to see it on the truck... It is going to look sweet. That color just pops in all different kinds of light and with the pearl you added, it will look awesome. Keep us posted.

Re: project (sweet pea)
got 90% of the drivers side cab DONE...just need to do some final tweaking on the rocker and cab corner......then off to the passenger side....This Driver side rocker WAS the WORST fit i have ever seen....or did...and this is not my first time at the rodeo either....i even mocked up the one i cut off and everything lined up pretty good none the less it is getting there....also got the upper door frame tacked and all in place and the cab corner fitted ,, i had to make some small relieve cuts on the cab corner but it has good lines now..i also got my brake lines in (thanks Richard H for the hook up ).....i will be trying to get this side completely done this week after work.and try and get better door gaps....these are way to wide for my taste....i got some ideas........,,,Its hard pressed trying to get this done...with a baby on the way ,and trying to get her room all ready....And the twice a week yard duties.,..Any way here are a few update pics.....

Re: project (sweet pea)
Quick Update -no pics- i will get those later...I finally got my brake lines on yesterday....the Inline Kit was Awesome.....everything fit great and only required very few tweaks....here and there.....it would have been a whole lot easier if i had done this before the engine and trans was in but..... a lesson learned......

Re: project (sweet pea)
They are from L.M.C truck, and are Tri- Pro .Which is what everyone else is selling...i have had to do some mods to them...But over all i wold rate them a 8 out of 10....they are well build ,but some of the lines and the upper door frames(i cut theirs out and welded my factory one s in) are bent a little different....Its all really how picky you are...i would use them again....and plan to......on my 67 whenever i decide to tear into that.......

Re: project (sweet pea)
This build is nothing short of inspirational. The fact that you are tackling this all on your own and making the kind of progress you are with quality work is just plain bad ass. I plan on taking my 72 down to the frame one day and I'll keep checking in on this build for ideas (I hope you dont mind). The entire attitude of your build is something that really breaks the mold. I wish you luck man, its gonna be worth it!
I vote a pair of black crinkle valve covers and a matching air filter. It wont jump out, but it'll be a subtle contrast to the gloss black.

Re: project (sweet pea)
small update....got the driver side floor and all the welding done..... I then epoxy primed the floor and i am trying some Paintable Undercoating...I then plan to sound deaden and of course carpet....The undercoating sprays just like rattle can....i did one light coat and will do another once the whole floor is done.....I also have been fighting getting the right door gaps to my taste....so i talked to an old school buddy of mine, he has built 20 plus custom rods 50-60s style...so i added a piece of 1/4 inch cold rolled round stock....to the cab and will just grind away to get the desired door gaps....I also started on the passengers side floor....Hope to get this all buttoned up next weekend ..We will see ( the wife has me getting the babies room ready and that comes first)....Anyways after all the welding and sparks are down ...i plan on painting my firewall and the underside of the cab floor....And then mate the chassis with the body and them continue on with body lines .gaps and all around fit....Anyway here are a few pics......
