Thank You
Inclusions in the start/stop nit-picky but would've been a fail. Quote:
Again thank you to everyone for your interest. It really does keep me thinking about this project and motivated to move forward. Josh

Re: 72 suburban "3drdwn"
OK so I actually knocked the dust off the burb frame today and dealt with that rolled portion of the frame that is folded down about half an inch. It was a win/lose(win?) sort of day.
While dealing with that last bit of clearance allowed the frame to lay flat, firmly planted on terra firma (WIN ) it did reveal a wheel/tire diameter issue. In the pictures the frame is still rolling the stock 235/75/15 which has an outside diameter of ~28.87": anybody notice that all 4 tires are sitting on 2x4 box tubing and the frame STILL plants flat. Now my 20's are fitted with 245/35/20 which have an outside diameter of ~26.75". That effectively would allow me to swap to 3" tubing under the tires and still lay the frame flat out. This situation is effectively wasting 3" of my suspension travel. now I could go back to my stock spindles up front and space my bags in the back. I could also put some balloon rubber on my 20's and get a plusher ride. Honestly though I think I'm going to begin the process of begging my wife to let me upgrade to 22's. I do have the fact that she likes my 20s and they fit her 66 conti going for me. Only time will tell. Well back to being a dad but the weather is finally warming so we should see some more progress on this thing soon. Josh

Re: 72 suburban "3drdwn"
Reunited and it feels so good.....
Managed to borrow the 2 post again and set the body back on the frame (although my gut tells me it will come off at least once more). The front is 0 psi but there is also a 2x6 under the rails to avoid rocker damage as they hang slightly below the frame. The rear is aired up about half way due to the need for additional trimming of the inner wells which may happen later today. I hope to have the tires back up on the 2x4 tubing from last pic and see how hard it will lay with the body on. Thanks to "Other" Josh ( his wife gave him that nickname when we worked together), Nate (Jones not PB) , and the road dog himself good ole KD for the help . Josh

Re: 72 suburban "3drdwn"
Weather today was iffy but no snow fortunately. I was able to trim the rear wells so that I could lay it flat but haven't made it to the tubing under the tires to bottom out the suspension yet. Back to work tomorrow so probably next week before anymore updates.
here is the latest: pics were from my cell. I'll get it outside in the sun for some "glamour" shots next week hopefully Josh

Re: 72 suburban "3drdwn"
I can't believe Izzy is 9mos already. Walking and showing real personality. Mrs is good. She's working on getting into real-estate. Although I question the timing, it looks like an ok time in our local market. She will keep her regular job so not risking too much.
As for the burb, well sadly due to a serious lack of time I have only managed to move it around and stick my 20's back on. I have a friend I'm building a mini-truck for bringing me some 22's to try out so we will see how those look. I did manage to get a couple of pics last week I though were sort of cool. plate reads 3DR DWN , slammed dually peeking out of garage. Quote:
Me too although I would like some headlights and taillights and black out the core. Next step is to get it into a black or dark grey sealer and then start the patch work on the body. I'm hoping to get it drivable while doing so so I can rejuvinate the fire. Thank you. it is very rough bodywise in person but seeing what JonZ did with his chop and a little bird told me another skilled board member might find their way to my locale, I'm sure i can get some help fixing that. it IS after all ONLY METAL. Josh

What did you end up doing to the dually suspension? Is it bagged now?
We need to hijack this thread with some cool dually pics!
