keep the beast...but if you want a cheep car go to an auto auction.i think there run by what ever county your in for impounded or abandoned cars. if they have one in your area it should be listed in the news paper.. i bought an old POS taurus for like 200 bucks and drove it for 2 years untill i finally blew the engine sky high... racing..

Re: this is not right

Get that clip and drive that truck.Use a little common sense and don`t play under everyone`s nose.Try to stop playing around, too. All it does is tear your stuff up.Just have it for when you need it,not to show off every chance you get. There are other young guys on here fixing their own stuff and it give them respect for their rides as well as themselves.I built and fixed my own stuff from day one and to me my car was the best in the world.I didn`t care what anyone else though.I dented it and fixed it.Everytime I got it ready for paint something else would happen. It was red oxide through high school until I was working full time a year or so out of school.
I still have the urges to get squirrely and do so from time to time.I`m just more careful...usually.

Re: this is not right

I dont even spin the tires any more and I drive the speed limit a lot more I dont mess with some one when they get where they want me to lay rubber cause it took me to get a ticket just to behave a little better and the grass on the other side is not that much greener on the other side after all.

Re: this is not right

Travis-

Like you, my parents had what I called "spies". They where really good friends that were just passing the word if they saw something out of place or stupid. I just didn't realize at the time by driving something unique like my Nova when the rest of my class had pretty generic jap econo-boxes with the minor late model camaro's and mustangs mixed in, that I was easy to pick out of a crowd. Duh. When I started getting lectured with questions like: "So how fast do you go down this road or that road?". I realized I better keep my nose clean while in the car. Plus, my best friend's parents were the managers at two separate Colorado Driver's licence offices. Mom could have my driving record checked at the drop of a phone call. (I'm betting she did from time to time)

I'm really sorry your Dad passed on last year. I couldn't imagine not having mine as he's done so much for me. That being said, I'm insanely sentimental because of it. I'd never sell my Nova. It may not be as nice as any of my Dad's classics (and he's got some awesome cars), but my Nova is the one he and I wrenched on, scrounged boneyards for and raced together. Nothing, no money can replace the memories wrapped up inside that car. If that truck was mine, with those memories it would rip my heart out to sell it. It's something that you have that still connects you to your Dad. Even if you don't have the means to fix it now, just keep a hold of it until you do. Buy a cheap beater to get to school and back and scrimp/save to aquire the parts needed to fix it. Hell, I'd lend a hand myself if I wasn't so far away.

I never hid it from my parents. I was always taking off out of the driveway sideways. the front of our house looks like the starting line and a drag strip. Thank God I got older. Perfect driving record since 88! Sorry about your truck man. Time and money will fix it.

Re: this is not right

Sounds like a pack of punks at your school.Tell them if their daddy had been man enough to spank them they may have turned out to be little men.How can they trash talk things they know nothing about?Ask them if their attitude came with their vehicle or were they just born like that?
Better yet, just ignore them and if they bug you more, tell them you`re waiting for them to grow up and know what they`re talking about.Go out and get those parts.Fix that truck.Show them what a cool truck these can be(or,all are). They don`t have tv shows and magazines about punks trash talking in parking lots while driving what mommy bought them(yet). But,they do have these trucks all over the media for those with a greater than caveman mentallity to see.You guys live in a small world right now.Get out of that parking lot mentallity and do something. That`s something to talk about. That parking lot scene is just more of the sandbox mentallity you all thought you left behind in elementary school.

Re: this is not right

SpecialK is hit the nail on the head. Don't give those punks the satisfaction of a response. They are just trying to provoke you into doing something stupid. You've got nothing to prove. I've found that whatever you do to impress those goons isn't going to win them over. Some people are just jerks that want to see others get picked on.

Every school seems to be that way. I know my high school did. I was one of a very small group that drove a car from the 60's to school. I got razzed some. It didn't bother me. Since I was one of the bigger kids at school it not many tried to mess with me. Ones that did, well I ignored them. It's amazing how not even acknowledging them stops them.

Re: this is not right

Well, I'm not surprised. You just go on ignoring them. Eventually they will move on to somebody else that they can get a reaction from. You just got to stay tough and don't stoop to their level. I know it's frustrating and annoying and you probably want to punch them out. Resist that urge, go hit a punching bag if you have to, but don't let it resort to anything physical. It's usually the 2nd guy that gets caught throwing a punch. At least it was with me. I don't know why but I got in a lot of fights in elementry and junior high school. Most were me finishing something somebody else started, but it was usually me that got caught.

They will lay off once they get the message that you aren't bothered by thier b/s. It's tough, but you can get past them.

Re: this is not right

I suspect there is a little jealousy there also. If there is some sentimental value to your truck it's because you have a connection to your Dad. Their parents probably aren't involved with them and making you feel inferior is their way of feeling better. They have major insecurity issues. Sounds like you have a good family that cares so don't let jerks pull you down to their level. I have seen the type and one of them might have tipped off the teacher from your previous story.

I agree that you should ignore them as much as possible. When they can't get any satisfaction from your suffering they will find another victim. It may take a while though. If things are getting violent with vehicles you should at the least get school authorities involved. Weapons aren't allowed in school but you they can drive a 2 ton hammer and park it in the lot.

I still say keep the truck and ignore the s!!

The white Tahoe is a 2 ton (4,000 lb.) hammer. He used it to bang on your truck like a hammer.Only, the hammer bent, not the nail.

Hey im looking at brothers and they have the grill but does the stuff that you need come with it such as the metal that is around the grill it is a 60 percent catalog with a few items. this is what interests me a bunch cause the best I could do was get those plastic things to put in your vehicle that fits in the groove that the window comes out of.
