wow...almost 2 months since my last post...works been crazy, been to a few car shows, but we got the truck back on jack stands and put in some hours tonight. pulled old wiring and airline, removed gas and brake line brackets. i'm hoping to pull the old lines and start cleaning up for some paint inside the rails and under the truck...sorry for lack of progress, but you all know how it goes time to time..

no pics, but i did all the gas and brakes lines out. removed the ABS, i plan to delete it to make room for the 22s. i've got the inside of the frame rails from front crossmember to the axle prepped for paint. going with master series chassis paint with a brush for heavier coats and added protection. I will put a coat on the rest of the frame in next week or so, too.

I'll snap some pics when we get the new lines ran. thanks!

Hey guys, i'm still slowing turning on this. I have the frame all painted up (for the second time). I tore the front apart for the paint, and hopefully today I'll get the steer box and linkage prepped. I also got all new replace rubber lines (from inline tube - check them out at the swap meet sometime for sweet deals). My dad is gonna teach me to bend up the brake and gas lines sometime...

No one likes excuses, but here's a lil something that slowed me down...wife, 1yr old and 2 nieces where in the car when a lady ran a stop sign. my wife t-boned her at about 50mph. everyone was sore, but no major injuries (luckily). The second pic is the replacement vehicle, and yes i like suburbans. however, with a second baby on the way (in march) we need the space and i don't want a mini van...

Did you buy back the Grand Prix? I can't imagine it being salvageable.

we didn't buy it back, insurance made a good offer (about $300 less than what we paid 3 yrs ago).

well...i'm at the point where I feel like I shoulda bought a truck that was done. even simple things have been fighting me and then they turn into long, drawn out projects in themselves. example - it's taken me over a month to remove front steering (box, idler, pitman, ca's, etc), order some new, paint and re-install...the parts were 2 day shipping BTW. the f*ing pitman arm is really killing me...

hopefully, i can make some head way soon to make me feel better about this, ugh...

sum pics... put most the front back together and it looks good in black! there's still some welding to be done, but dad's shop has some moisture so i painted it. the metal man says he's got a god grinder or 3, so no worries. i've moved on to figuring out the tank...and still looking into gas and brake lines...

once i learn how to bend up the lines myself i hope to run hard lines for the air, too. sounded like a good idea when found out thin wall aluminum line will work in the accuair fittings (quick release style). should make a nice durable, clean install....eventually.

No major updates...I replaced the gas lines from the engine to the frame and then kinda got preoccupied with life. my dad was diagnosed with cancer right before thanksgiving. It's an aggressive form of colon cancer and he started treatments right way. He's doing well, but is sensitive to cold and what have you.

my dad, like many of the guys on here, is the reason i'm into cars/trucks and a burban man himself. I was hoping learn to bend up brake, gas, air lines, from him so i've been pushing it off hoping it warms up a little and he feels good enough to teach me something... Thanks for checking in.

hey guys thanks for checking in and the kind words. just thought i would let you know that my next excuse for not getting anything on the burb showed up this monday. little Mason James was born about 5 weeks early, so we're spending some time in the hospital to make sure he's truly ready to rock n roll....

thinkin about trading my burbs for this hoe...thoughts? i'm having a tough time deciding. I love the burb, but it needs too many things i can't do nor have time to learn. the hoe is driveable now and needs more detail type work....but it's not the burb.

You know, after having owned a 4-door Yukon in the past and having a Suburban now and having 3 kids and all, I don't think I would ever want to go back to the short wheelbase unless it was just going to be a run-around-town rig. Even then, I love the huge 747 interior of the Suburban.

1badgmc...yea i know what you mean. my wife's 2002 burb is a monster compared to anything i know. this truck wouldn't really be a daily driver (living in ohio) and my current daily is a 95 tahoe, so it's wouldn't be much change. well, minus the 3in body drop and setting on the rockers.. we're gearing up to trade on saturday.

FYI - the trade went through this weekend. I kept some parts, but sent the burb and truck bed full of parts with the other guy. now i have to get my parts truck back together enough to trailer to him next weekend. i feel like i unloaded a pretty substancial investment, but dropping 2 non-running vehicles for 1 running with a body drop doesn't seem too bad.

I financially i think i lost a little, but i now have truck that needs attention to detail and not a full on rebuilding. it seems to be more within my skill set and i can drive it inbetween upgrades! here's some pics once it was at my house (well, dad's for now). I'll probably start a new thread for this one since this thread already has 3 trucks in it... thanks for following and i'll post the link to the new thread when i have more information and some progress (53" roof to ground....)
