Re: Found a wood bed in the junkyard today. Think you have seen it all?
Yeah, thanks. I missed it the first time around.
It is amazing considering that there should have been spare parts at junkyards I would think. The work involved took a lot of hours and probably cost more in labor than the parts -even from the dealer. A person could have mowed lawns or done odd jobs to buy the bed and come out ahead... |

This guy really thought outside of the box! No...let me rephrase. This guy really thought "about" the box!

Re: Found a wood bed in the junkyard today. Think you have seen it all?
Forgot about this one. I'm still amazed at the work that went into it. Poor guy still didn't "think it through" though. I'm not sure how well bondo actually sticks to wood (seems to be pretty good based on the pics) but wood expands and contracts unless kept in a constant temperature and moisture environment, so it was all destined to crack off eventually.

Re: Found a wood bed in the junkyard today. Think you have seen it all?
The amount of time that had to go into that project... wow...
I kind of have to think that whoever did this didnt originally plan on covering it in bondo and then painting it. Would have been really impressive in a nice stain. I did have to save the shift indicator picture though.... Reminded me of one of those old "You might be a redneck" jokes

Re: Found a wood bed in the junkyard today. Think you have seen it all?
Wow! Either the PO was so cheap that he used ONLY what he had on hand to fix a totaled out bed or...he had way too much time on his hands. Sometimes you have to think if you Should do something before you do it.

Re: Found a wood bed in the junkyard today. Think you have seen it all?
Really amazing! So will anyone save this bed? Or get the VIN so we could see if it might ba a early prototype mock up thing or just sth home made? Either way, I think it would be worth saving and restoring!!
