Re: 1954 Monster 4X4 Shop Truck "Crash"
I finished the firewall, picked up my powder coated wheels, and had (6) brand New Toyos mounted up.... Starting to look cool!
I built my firewall with poster board first. I find it much easier to cut and tape then to grind and struggle... Paper is the way to go! It's not going to be your exact templet upon completion of layout, but it will get you very close, and saves you a lot of time / money! |

Yuppers, some times we change horses in the middle of the stream so often that our feet never dry out.
I rather like what you are doing with it now even though I really liked the first idea too. I was thinking about putting a one ton front crossmember and rear end under this one. But after seeing yours I am going to be thinking about hunting a crew cab one ton for the same swap. |

Re: 1954 Monster 4X4 Shop Truck "Crash"
So, I got the cab mounts in. I was going to use the original cab mounts that I had removed from the original chassis, but went for scratch built as the original mounts didn't look very good on the 82' frame.

Re: 1954 Monster 4X4 Shop Truck "Crash"
Finished the front core support mounts, bolted up the doors, built the seat frame, and started to mock up the front bumper... I'm hoping to have this beast on the road next week.... We'll see...
By the way, the only thing I am closer to in life other than my wife is my fork lift! Last edited by OYMC; 06-10-2011 at 12:16 AM. |

Re: 1954 Monster 4X4 Shop Truck "Crush"
Steering column installed... Unfortunately the first time I installed this steering column I installed it to low on the firewall which caused the steering link to hit the upper control arm. After patching the floor back in I relocated the steering column hole and all is good.
Throttle pedal and cable are in place. A few minor alterations to the original 82' throttle pedal and we're in business. Clutch and brakes are also ready to go! |

Re: 1954 Monster 4X4 Shop Truck "Crush"
I also recently purchased a pair of full length Hooker headers, and for the time being extended the exhaust system to just behind the cab with 3" Exhaust tubing and a minor down ward turn... It's going to be loud!
Started fabricating the seat frame. I'll be using two racaro style racing bucket seats. I figure a "Tuffy" locking (Gun safe approved) center console would be fitting for this build. I've got a 40 caliber glock that will feel right at home with this truck... Word to the wise, if you see me on the road don't even think about cutting me off! Cheers |
