That's pretty cool! I'd buy some lottery tickets this weekend. Luck like that comes along once in a lifetime!

Re: State antique license plates who has e'm ?

I have Historical plates on my 71. I've driven mine to work before to show it off and stores, etc. even hauled some light stuff in the bed with no issues. The following is taken from the Ohio application:

DEFINITION AND INSTRUCTIONS
HISTORICAL VEHICLES OHIO REVISED CODE (R.C.) 4503.181

Motor vehicles must be at least 25 years old to qualify. They are solely collector’s items and are used for participation in club activities,
exhibitions, tours, parades, etc. but NOT for general transportation.
Historical license plates are valid without renewal for the life of the vehicle, except Initial/Personalized or when there is a change in
ownership. In that case, the plates must be surrendered to the Registrar of the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
If the vehicle has a regular Ohio vehicle registration, there will be no refund or partial refund for your current vehicle registration. Your
registration and plates will be mailed within seven to ten days. Failure to follow instructions will delay the issuance of your registration.

Re: State antique license plates who has e'm ?

I have run of the mill antique tags on my '70 Blazer and YOM plates on my '56. Unfortunately, my '56 is mismatched and came with a '58 title, so I don't get to run the cool state-shaped ones unless I find a '56 VIN. Not sure it's worth the trouble and risk.

To be an antique in Tennessee, it basically has to be over 25 years old and have "a non-modified engine and body." It can be pleasure driven on the weekend, but otherwise you have to be testing or headed to a show to drive it. Of course, when both of my vehicles are on the road, neither will have the original engine, but I'm not too worried about it. I only registered my '56 as such because it's the only way to run a YOM tag and my '70 I had to apply for a lost title and it was the cheapest way to do it. Then again, the way the law's written you could change the valve covers or cam in the original engine and technically be breaking the law, but if you just swap in a stock engine from something else it could be seen as ok since it's unmodified. Whoever wrote the law did a really poor job and left it pretty open to interpretation.

Once I get my Blazer on the road, I may run a standard tag to avoid trouble, but right now antique registration is an easy way of keeping the registration up to date.

Re: State antique license plates who has e'm ?

I have the Yellow Antique Va tags on my 1976 K10. Realistically the truck doesn't tend to leave the county I live in often. I do take the truck to the dump weekly, yes I know I'm not suppose to. I have never had any trouble with the law. My Father also has the antique tags on his 1952 International L110 and he has used the truck in the same way for years. I think that if you don't have the truck or car out all the time, most police aren't going to bother you. The ones that bother me are the 82 Ford Escort that is billowing smoke and would never pass state inspection, yet they are sporting the antique tags and driving all the time.
