The rims were 15x16 with a 10" backspace, Note that the rearend you see in that picture is not the 58" rearend, that reaend is much shorter than 58" and I don't remember what the measurement was.

It's been awhile

I haven't made a post in awhile but I've been watching you folks...LOL.
I started back on the truck last week and did a few things.

Made some wheel tubs using trailer fenders, did a third brake light, filled in my cowl vent and started fixing my bed sides.

Took a break from the hood but will get back to it soon.

Re: Tri5 55 build

Nice work, I'm always impressed with the talent on this forum.

I've seen a few others here on the forum mention filling in the cowl vent. When you do that do you create another opening somewhere to allow air into the cab? It seems to me that you could make an opening into the cowl under the hood and duct air into it but I haven't seen anyone mention doing that.

Russell.

I'm going to go with a Vintage Air system, but that's a good question maybe one of the more seasoned members can provide a better answer.

I made them from 1/4" and 1x2 stock, I did them based on the original motor mounts.

It's from a 2004 focus, I need to take some pictures of the back side but I just cut the area to put the lense in and secure it with 1/4" x 3" screws and washers. I need to get some hinge for the access panel in the back side.

Re: Tri5 55 build

Tri 5 are you using the trailer wheel wells for the outside of the bed and also the inside? I can't tell from the picture but it looks like you welded the trailer wheelwell to the outside of the bed?

I'm using it for the inside, I just had it there before I started welding it on the inside. Still need to clean up my work on the welds.

Slowing getting it done

Bed side and wheel tubs in, I smooth the fender bolt holes and finished putting in the right side tub, still need final cleaning up.

Started working on smoothing the steps, only had enough sheetmetal to do one, need to get some more 18 guage to finishe the other one.

After

The other step ready for sheetmetal.

Just for fun, this is where she sits when aired out, not that great of a pic.

How did you make the fender bolts flush with the bed? I am sure someone has asked before but still need to know.

Fat Mike I learned from the one and only Kabwe, you get washers that is snug to the fender bolt size, place the bolts through the bed side leaving some space to cut the head of the bolt off, once done you weld the washer to the bedside that's one the outside careful not to weld the bolt. Then try to get a couple tacks on the bolt and bedside that's on the bold head side, after that cut the head off and weld the head portion of the bolt to the bedside then grind smooth.

Hope that helps.

Mike,

I took some pictures but can't seem to find them no, I'll take a few and post later. I still need to find the screws that secure them to the cab, anyone know what size those are? They look like sheetmetal screws.

Re: Tri5 55 build

Tri5Nerd what radiator and condensor setup did you use with your 5.3 motor? I am thinking about buying 1 for my 55 and was wondering about what to use. your setup looks good in your truck.

I'm trying to use the stock camaro LS1 radiator and condensor, if I go that route I'll need to do some trimming of the core support. One think I did notice is that if using the stock condensor, there might be some issues with the hood latch hitting it.
