Your 57 is a SWEET truck, but don't take this the wrong way...I have to ask if those late model seats really go with the restof the gasser theme.

Re: Future gasser '57 chevy

It took awhile to track down a windshield installer for my truck. I finally lucked out and found a father (Dave) and son (Chris) team and they got the job done. I installed new emblems as well.

Re: Future gasser '57 chevy

Notice!
In the past few weeks I found out a few things after missing around with the frontend, where I added the 2" lift blocks to help raise the front height up and added the after market power steering kit. On the maiden road test found out real quick what bump steer and steering wobble are all about, which I discovered real fast. It was back to drawing board and research for answers. I still wanted the high boy look so I ordered new front springs fabbed with 6" archs. I also read an article on positive caster from a gasser link. I measured 0 degree caster on my exiting setup with a magnetic degee finder on the I-beam and the drag link had a 3.5" offset with pitman arm. The article mentioned using a 10 degree positive caster setup and making the drag ling parallel with with the pitman arm. I installed the new springs with 6 degree shims for now and corrected the drag link 3.5" offset to pitman arm. Waiting to do another road test to see if changes are headed in the right direction.

Re: Future gasser '57 chevy

I would think a straight tube axle would cure a lot of the problems associated with your steering,. also a 1" block under the front springs is max..
The other thing that is alarming is where you put the front brake lines/ hose connections.
If you put them through the frame, and you possibly broke a leaf spring or rhe axle shifted position, the front brake line wouldn't be in the way of getting hit. The axle can't go any higher than the frame.
Just saying....
Other than that, I'm jealous.

small suggestions....
1. I would powdercoat the oval piece in the grille white instead of black....it would add to the whitewalls.
2. Paint the sheet metal under the grille blue . It would help the "complete" look of the front.
3. use seats that don't stick up in the rear window.
4. Add the 57 year only V on the doors. They kind of break up the slab look of truck doors since the doors are so tall.

But then, it's not mine, but I would do those things if it were.
