Re: 1972 GMC "the beast" c20
hoping to get my last parts tomm, muffler exh. pipe, and vacu,mn advance. and waiting for my cousin to call and let me know if he has a carb, as i need one bad!!!
been working like crazy on the baja bug got the inerior out, motor pulled apart, cleaned most the parts up. thinking once my c25's on the road and back to dd duty, of starting a new project, to hone my resto/mechanic skills. heres some pics of the two trucks ive got to choose from, i like the c60 as it would fit in with my c25, but i love the 1967 international too. give me your thoughts please!! added pics of paint scheme for baja bug, and international. |

Re: 1972 GMC "the beast" c20
DNORRIS009 here are those pics i took for u, as u can see the header and intake bolt clamp points are at different heights at either end of the motor, the rest are good a stud will work as u can see i found out too late and didn't run to the store for studs, i dont suggest using washers, i really should change it but am too lazy, as for how i got them to stay up as i was bolting them in, i started a couple bolts to "hang" the intake off of. i sat on the radiator support and used my right leg to kinda balance it their as i held the headers up with my left, and started all the bolts and slowly tightened them all, adjusting the intake and headers as needed. a second person would definitely help, i also took a pic of the header to clutch linkage clearance in case yours is a manual too. these were with my phone so sorry if fuzzy.

Re: 1972 GMC "the beast" c20
got most the exhaust bolted up amazing how quiet glasspacks can sound after listening to open headers for 4-5 weeks lol. also put the truck to work for the land lord today removing some wood for him and a load of paving stones and bricks the truck sank with the weight but i didnt feel it, that 292 still pulled like it was empty. heres some action pics(w/phone) and i found out today by way of speed trap and some math i have 5.13 gears not 4.56 (i had assumed the speedo was off due to age so settled to 4.56 evidently its right and yet again assuming is stupid...) which amazes me that i get 15-16mpg

Re: 1972 GMC "the beast" c20
made a tool rack for my truck outa scrap wood ain't pretty but it works! also got a picture of mufflers in. and i broke my bed...loaded it up with as much cinder blocks, bricks, and paving blocks, as the susp would handle. and the rear most bed to frame mount evidently was too rusty and went squishy lol. but the truck didnt mind the weight in terms of going down the road power wise.
