Re: The rebirth of El Scrocho

I wanted to drop the rear some more so I made a pair of 1 1/2" spacer blocks and bought two longer U bolts from Stengel Brothers in PA. I already had a lot of 1 1/2 square stock left over from making the seat brackets, since the local steel supplier only sells in 24 foot lengths. Not bad for about 20 bucks plus shipping. I now have about 1 1/2" space to the stock bumpstops on all four springs.

Re: The rebirth of El Scrocho

Here is a belated look at the seat belt installation. All four required an L bracket that i made from real thick L channel. The one by the driver outside required a new hole to clear the gas tank and the other three used the stock captive nut and hole seat belt mounts. The upper mount used the stock captive nut. Note that this nut has fine thread, unlike the rest. The inner straps even look like they belong with the seats...

Here's a shot of the completed white oak bed. I guess you can officially call this truck as retired from hauling gravel forever.
You can see a reflection of the grumpy old photographer in the back window.

Re: The rebirth of El Scrocho

Finally finished the console. I made the box and covered it in Vinyl which turned out well. I covered the lid in vinyl but when I stretched it over the inside of the lid I was really unhappy with the results. So I took it down to the local upholstery shop and they redid the lid. Now I'm happy. I made the removable tray this morning out of some scrap mahogany I had left over after making a jewelry box for my wife a while ago. I love the grain in this wood!
