You need to post some updates. I know you haven't gone a month without doing something to the truck.

lol.....I'm a busy guy and have way too many hobies

I have been spending the last month or so playing and working on my new toy (08 long travel teryx). I scored it for a smoking deal and sold my 4 seat rhino so I could upgrade.

I spent a solid weekend over at a friends house cutting off the back bars and making it into a 3 seater so my son wouldn't miss the fun.

Then we went out and actually used the toys....

As far as the truck the weather here hasn't been amazing.....

I actually took her out of the garage last week and gave her a bath. I was gonna drive her over to Brothers for some parts but it started to rain.

I will admit that I recently replaced the window cranks as the other knobs were very wobbly.

The truck also came with miss matching upper door trim. I had sharpie here on the board find me a nice matching chrome peice that would match the drivers door......just threw that on as well

Then I decided to give my bezel some love. I purchased a new bezel prior to the northern california show but I couldn't get the headlight switch offf and I ran out of time. I dropped the colum and gained about 1.5" of belly room by collapsing it into the crush sleve. I then replaced the bezel, lights and bezel screws.

While I was at brothers I ordered the deluxe light/wiper knob but they weren't in stock. I also got new deluxe pedals and the stainless trim that I need to install.

Next project is sound deadning (I have a 100 sq ft of fat mat) and perhaps a sub box under the seat.

I will take some pics and throw them up when I have a chance.

Thanks for the positive feedback....

She is a good solid truck and alot of fun. I will keep improving the trucks weak links in hopes of one day having the scratch for a complete tear down.

I am pretty sure I am going to add an amp and low profile under seat sub when I strip the interior for the sound deadning. Whats a couple hundred and a weekend on the table saw for a little better sq.

I also want to replace the cab rubbers with the push on style so I can reuse them after paint.

Re: Project "Old Yeller"

Love the Kawi Tyrex. I work at a Kawasaki dealership some weekends for fun. We have built some cool machines but yours is super clean. I love the paint job. How would it be to jump in the truck and drive to Brothers for parts? It is better that I don't live close because I would not have any money left. Keep up the progress. Did you see my new ECE drop kit and wheels?

Re: Project "Old Yeller"

OK....made a little headway on the interior.

If you go back to my first post the biggest complaint I had about the truck was the interior truck noise. I put 2K miles on the truck over the last 12 months and have made a few long distance trips and each time my ears bleed after 3+ hours.

I did some research and settled on Rattle Trap by Fat Mat. I purchased 100 sq ft from amazon.

I stripped out the interior of the truck with the help of Johnoro here on the boards. With his help I got about 10 minutes worth of work done in about 8 hours....haha

He wanted to drink and hang out in the backyard with the girls sun bathing instead of getting greassy working on a 40 y/o truck

The truck just had carpeting and a super thin peice of foam under the feet area.

I applied 2 layers as far up the fire wall as I could go and I also covered the gas tank. I have about 40 sq ft left over and will do the back wall when I remove the gas tank for the full tear down in a couple years.

I then went to Home Depot and got a 9x6 sheet of carpet insulation and layed that down before I reinstalled the carpet.

The truck is now a ton quieter....You actually only hear motor and exhaust from the outside of the truck now and the echo is gone.

Re: Project "Old Yeller"

I also installed new deluxe pedals and carpeted kick panels to finish off the interior...

Re: Project "Old Yeller"

Oh yeah.... I ditched the crappy glue on door rubbers that the PO installed (glue everywhere that will be impossible to get off) and replaced them with the GMC Pauls push on style.

Install was a breeze and they look/work great and are reusable for when I strip the truck.....

I also got the next project shipped from Summit and hope to get the Truck in to Magnaflow for a full exhaust system.

headers and full exhaust....

I was thinking of doing a under seat sum/amp rack but upon inspection the spring set up really would prevent that under the seat.

Perhaps a beefier front sway bar...

After the exhaust I will start saving for AFR heads and a new cam so I can get 300hp+ to the wheels.
