Re: 1952 chevy home made frame build
With as nice as the frame looks, can't wait to see how the rest of the truck looks.

Re: 1952 chevy home made frame build
Well right now the rest of the truck is in pieces but i hope it turns out as nice as the frame is. everyone has a vision i think and in my vision it will be nicer than the frame is.

Re: 1952 chevy home made frame build
I just started building the frame for my 54 gmc, waiting on my 87 corvette front and rear end so i can figure out my ride height. I took all the measurements off a stock frame...what did u use for measurements? Whats your ride height set at? Hoping mine looks as good as yours when done!

Re: 1952 chevy home made frame build
How did you attach your running boards and your battery box? I just wonder because everything was enclosed on the backside.

Re: 1952 chevy home made frame build
The tube steel is 1/4 inch thick so we just drilled and tapped it and it seems very strong.

Re: 1952 chevy home made frame build
Wow, great stuff.
And this should show others how to build a custom truck, and not goof up an original frame to boot. I would like to know what kind of paint your using? For the frame and body etc. Also what is the thickness of the steel tube for the frame rail sections? 3/16 ths??? And are the other dimensions approximate to the factory rail and beam sections? Very excellent job, is it all welded wire feed? |

the frame is 1/4 inch thick and we used the same dimensions as an original factory frame. My dad tig welded everything on the frame and wire fed and tig on the cab.

Re: 1952 chevy home made frame build
Whats the measurent from the ground to the bottom of the running board? Finally got all my suspension components minus the flat out front crossmember. I got all the dimensions from a stock frame and all the steel, just cant wait to get started!

Re: 1952 chevy home made frame build
What degree do you have for the kickdown on the front of the frame? Am I wrong or does it start just rear of the crossmember?

Re: 1952 chevy home made frame build
All of our frame dimensions are stock but i think its 3 degrees or something around there. and it starts just before the rear axle.
