Re: 1961 Indian

Alright guys, made some progress on this beast. Dropped the rear 4" and it wasn't quite low enough, so I ordered 5" springs for the rear from the good people at ECE.

Last Sunday I installed the new 5" springs in the rear, 1" in the front, and 2.5" drop spindles. Converted the front from drum to disc with vented drilled rotors and booster. Just finished bleeding the lines tonight and will get some pics of the stance up tomorrow AM.

The bottom coil ring on both front springs was completely snapped off. Who knows how long this truck has been running on broken front coils. Looks like some cowboy jumped the snot out of this thing at one point.

I'm really looking forward to seeing your truck with the new dropped spindles and front and rear springs. That is the exact setup I have on my truck but it is down to bare frame so I haven't seen the exact stance I will end up with. I've got a 66 LWB.

Looking good! Where did you get the discs throught? Are they 1 1/4 rotors! I just got a 13 inch rear disc brake setup and need to find a matching front rotor. Thanks keep it going!

ECE. I've stopped going through anyone else for these old trucks. Shipping is often next day in NorCal and Customer Service can't be beat.

Better pics without the sun glare.

And no, there will not be a "formal" photoshoot without the garbage cans.

That's a great stance. Just what I had invisioned. Makes me more determined than ever to keep working even though I'm a long ways off from being on the road.

Re: 1961 Indian

My coils were busted up front too... The truck looks great w that stance!! The wheels look great too. I was amazed that a 4/5or6 drop doesnt bury 15s anymore than they do. Keep up the good work!!

Re: 1961 Indian

I got a little tired of the exhaust vibration from the turndown's before the rear axle. Now that the suspension is finished, I had tips ran all the way out by West Coast Muffler in Concord. I rattle can'd that in high temp semi gloss black. With these megaphone tips this thing now sounds like a ski boat underwater at idle.

Re: 1961 Indian

Broke out the rattle can again, flat white around the rear window. Also bought the sticker kit from Brothers Trucks for the tailgate.

Re: 1961 Indian

In case you haven't noticed, I've got a little bit of A.D.D. with these trucks. I decided to sell this longbed and will be starting an Air Ride Porterbuilt short frame in the next couple of weeks.

More to come -
